Job Description

We are looking for one or more overall graphics makers. Overall means that the person we are looking for can make layouts and smaller graphics. This means persons who can make more than just glitters or buttons. We are only looking for people who can make layouts such as userlookups, shop&gallery layouts, petpages, pet lookups, guild layouts and smaller graphics like buttons. It's okay if not all of these layouts are not your strongest point. If you have a strong base, learning something new will not be hard for you. You would also need to be able to code these graphics yourself.

We are judging on the quality of your graphics. We are aware that not all graphics programs are able to deliver good quality. Programs like MS Paint are -very- limited. If you only work with this program it is not likely your graphics will meet our standards.

We are looking for someone who can produce graphics regularly. This can be something large like a userlookup, or something small like a button or a blinkie. On average we are looking for someone who can make one graphic a week. This is not a set in stone rule. If you're busy and cannot make anything, we understand. If another time you are less busy and make more things, great. We just are not looking for someone who only has time to make something every 4-5 months. Thats just not enough for this position. Also, we would prefer it if you are able to make graphics related to Neopets site events like plots. These are time related graphics which would require you to make some time during these events to make something.

We would really enjoy it if you are an artist and are able to use some of your own art into your graphics. If you're not, no problem. Also we would enjoy it if you are good at explaining how to use a graphics program and can write some tutorials about it. If not that's also not a problem.

Requirements

Below you can see a list of requirements, if you do not meet all these requirements you will not be accepted as Graphics Maker for SunnyNeo, applying for staff would be pointless.

You can code your own graphics. We are not in the ability to give coding lessons. We also do not accept coding taken from another site and adjusted. You need know yourself how to design a lookup codingwise. Your graphics are compatible with at least Firefox and Internet Explorer. Preferably you know how to make them compatible with Google Chrome, Safari and Opera as well. On average you are able to make at least one new graphic a week. This can vary from something large or something small. You are okay with the fact that your graphics will not have any credit directly to you on them in the coding or on the graphic. You will however be placed on the About us page as a graphics maker so you will still get credit due there. You accept that when you make something for the site it will then become the site's and if you were to ever leave, the graphics you contributed would stay. You plan on doing this job for quite a long time. We are not looking for people who will quit after a month. Please only apply if you're sure you will enjoy this job. You are able / allowed to download and install an FTP Program. We use this program to upload files on the SunnyNeo webserver and edit them as well. Without this program you will not be able to upload your work. You are okay with us giving you some graphic criticism and maybe asking for some changes to be made if need be.

Preferences

Below you can see a list of our preferences. You do not need to meet these preferences, but it's a big bonus if you do. If you don't meet our preferences you can still apply, after all, they're preferences, not requirements.

You be out of highschool, or 15/16 years or older. You have Skype/Windows Live Messenger. You have quite a bit of experience, whether it be formal training or you have just been doing it for awhile. You do not have a website with your own neopets graphics on it. Some exceptions still apply (hence why this is just a something we prefer) for example if you make custom graphics for people and you have them up on your site, that would still be fine. If you have your own premades page, moving them to SunnyNeo would be an option. You can join our staff guild on your main or side account. In the guild we chat about the site and we prefer it if you can actively take part in these discussions. It would be absolutely great if you were an artist and drew some of the artwork for the graphics, this however is just a very large hope we have and we don't expect it of you. You are also good at explaining things, and are able to write tutorials for making userlookups, or tutorials on how to use certain graphic programs.

Before you decide to apply for the position of graphics maker at SunnyNeo you MUST make a graphics portfolio. Your portfolio will show us an overview of the graphics you have made in the past. We have set up an example portfolio for you to use as your guideline. Click here to see the graphics portfolio. You can use our example portfolio to make your own, or you can design one yourself. Be sure to stick to the rules in the portfolio example however. You are required to have a total of at least 5 layout examples. We would prefer it if you could show as many things as possible. Think about showing both different kinds of graphics, and different kinds of styles that you can do. The more you show us, the more we can be convinced of your talent. If you can do different types of layouts, please include an example of each type i.e. userlookup, petlookup, petpage, shop, gallery and/or guild layout. More rules about how to show your work are in the example portfolio, be sure to read it carefully. Please work on making a good, solid portfolio before applying. Your portfolio will put the most weight in your application, so make sure its 100% done when you send in your application form. Don't worry if it takes longer than a day for you to make. We don't expect the best entries to be in tomorrow.
