Games Master Challenge

What is the Games Master Challenge?
Every year in November a Blumaroo named Aristotle A. Avinroo (better known as Aaa) gives out game challenges to Neopians. The first time he has done so was in November 2006. On this page you can see all challenges, prizes and qualifying games. You will also see some tips on how to play the challenges and beat them. Click here to go to Games Master Challenge.

If you want to practice, SunnyNeo's Games Room lists all GMC and Daily Dare scores from previous years. This will give you an idea of which score you'll need to get to beat AAA.

Game Challenge
Pop!

Reach a score of 400 or greater playing Jubble Bubble.

Tips for Jubble Bubble:
  • Always target the Jubbles before the dubloons or shells, which are the bonus items. You will lose a life if you do not catch the Jubbles.
  • Whenever you have the chance, go for the dubloons. They are worth five times the amount of the shell bonus item, and more than twice as much as the Jubbles.
  • It is actually easier to send the bubbles on up to the items and Jubbles the higher up they are! Shoot the bubbles up as high as possible. As soon as you fire one bubble, instantly begin charging up a second.
  • If you have a break, swim to the middle so you are equidistant from both sides.

How Many Are There?!

Send a minimum score of 5 000 or higher in Kookia.

Tips for Kookia:
  • Play in Hard mode to gain more points.
  • You need to collect at least three Ghost Kookiths to unlock the bonus round. Once you've unlocked it, ignore them unless they're easy to collect.
  • You will earn more points for each Kookith collected if you collect them in "chains". Try to position your mouse in front of a chain to grab them in a row quickly. If you wait a second before collecting the first group of Kookiths, you can string the second group on to the same chain for more points.
  • When the meter fills up, you can press the space bar to slow down the Kookiths. This also works in the bonus rounds.
  • The Kookiths appear in the same order each time for a scene, but the scenes are random.

Brrrrrrrr...

Reach a score of 40 000 or greater playing Wrath of the Snowager and a score of 700 or better playing Igloo Garage Sale - The Game.

Tips for Wrath of the Snowager:
  • Play the game on hard to get more points.
  • You can only use the left and right arrow keys to move the Snowager around, not the up and down keys.
  • The green powerups are good, while the red powerups are bad. Read the instructions for the game and try to familiarise yourself with what each powerup does. Some of the green powerups aren't particularly useful.
  • The most important powerup is the green heart, which gives an extra life. Make sure to get it whenever you can.
  • You can hit the space bar to shoot ice, but it's pretty useless and you shouldn't need to use it. Just use the head of the Snowager to hit the thief and make him drop items.
  • Turning off your sound may help you concentrate.
  • If you bump into a wall or an obstacle, you lose a life.
  • You'll unlock any level you've played, so you can play it again later on without having to do the previous levels first.
  • If you're having trouble beating the game normally, then hang out in level one for a while until you've collected a lot of extra lives. (You can stay in a level for longer by hitting the -4 powerup, which will make you drop 4 of your items.) Once you've got a lot of lives, go on to level 2. Then play level 2 over and over, killing yourself on purpose once you've collected 19 items. Keep doing that until you're on your last life; then pass the level and progress through the game. If you collected enough extra lives in level one, you can beat AAA without ever having to pass level 2.

Tips for Igloo Garage Sale:
  • The game code frozensnowflake allows you to drop 6 items instead of 5. One user per game. Type the code during the waiting screen before a tough round.
  • Catch all the items in a round, and your score for that round will be doubled.

  • Keep the Grundo from stealing your plushies by clicking on him.
  • Do your best to aim the paint blobs, overfilling vats and splashing are your enemies.
  • Click the soap blob when needed to clean up your waste.
  • The Angel blob fills up whichever vat it lands in, so aim carefully.
  • The Glowing blob upgrades all the plushies on the belt, this is a very good thing.
  • The Clock blob adds time, this is good.
  • The multicoloured blob with electrons around it will fill all your vats, don't worry about aiming for this one.
  • When starting the game, try filling up the two vats you don't need for the first plushie before you fill up the needed colour.
  • Once in a while, a paint blob with an angry face might appear. Don't click on this one, since it will only make your dirt meter go up.

Game Challenge
Hold the Fort!

Reach a score of 1000 or greater playing Neopian Battlefield Legends.

Tips for Neopian Battlefield Legends:
  • Play the game on hard mode (Map: Meridell's counterattack). If you've practised a bit, it's not much harder than the easier levels, while those don't give out enough points for beating AAA
  • This game has several NeoCash features. However, you don't need to use these, since you can win the game and beat AAA with the default towers and the Meridell's Counterattack map. The Courtyard Ambush map is the only NC map you can get AAA's score with. This map is hard to play however and not recommended.
  • On the map you see some rocks, try to set your machines in an S shape around the rocks.
  • Don't spend all your points on new weapons, but be sure to leave some points in case the attacker comes and tries to destroy your machine. That way you can quickly upgrade before it gets destroyed.
  • If your tower does get destroyed, you can sell the burning hole that's left (you won't get any points from it though) and rebuild another tower.
  • Don't buy too many wooden towers, they don't do much damage.
  • Rapid Fire and Catapult towers are the best towers to use. The catapult ones have a small range, but do lots of damage. Best to place them close next to the track your enemies are running on.
  • Place a couple of catapult towers at the start of the game and you won't have to worry about the attacker on the later levels.
  • Once you have your machines set in the S-shape, be sure to keep upgrading them for a wider range.
  • This game can take long, so make use of the fast forward button. You'll find this one on the same place as the 'play' button once the game is in play.
  • The Eyrie Guard (Meridell) and Quiggle scouts (Darigan) are flying enemies and will follow a different path than the walking ones. Make sure you have a couple of towers hitting their track as well.

New Lands, New Adventures

Reach a score of 150 or greater playing Caves and Corridors: Mystery Island.

Tips for Caves and Corridors: Mystery Island:
  • Watch the falling rock carefully, you do not want it to hit you. Where needed, wait for it to pass you. You may also want to skip certain coins/gold if its too dangerous to get with the falling rocks coming at you. Getting the fruit is the most important.
  • The spikes are not very visible, they go up and down, to pass them, simply wait for them to go down.

November 27th - Day 5
Game Challenge
I Think We're Out of Juice!

Send a minimum score of 500 or higher playing Meepit Juice Break.

Tips for Meepit Juice Break:
  • The game code meepits gives you an extra life. One use per game.
  • The game code juice-o-matic restores time meters to full. One use per game.
  • You get more points when the juice is the same color as the Meepit.
  • Meepits have a weird sense of colours. To get Pink Juppie juice for the pink Meepit, combine all the three colours (red, blue and yellow).
  • To to put pipes with a fruit in your connection. The red fruit will give you 10 points, the blue one 25.
  • Rotten apples will take of 10 points of your score. Try to avoid those.
  • At the end of a level, when you've only have one Meepit left to feed, connect the pipes of both two Meepits, so you'll be feeding two instead of one. This will give you extra points.
  • On the lower levels, take your time to connect as many pipes as possible, this will give you more points
  • Connecting all pipes at once will give you bonus points. This can be done the easiest on the first level.
  • If you have 2 or more meepits of the same colour, join them together to save time and earn more points.
  • If you are running low on time, join the Meepits together, even if they have different colours!
  • In the higher levels don't be too bothered with getting the colour right, especially for the mixed Meepits. You simply won't have time.
  • Yes you can get the score on Zen Mode, but this will take your hours, it may be faster to practice on normal mode
  • Try connecting the pipes starting from the meepit(s) instead of from the flow.

Pipe Mug Juice

Blow 'em Away!

Reach a score of 10 000 or greater playing Invasion: Blastoids.

Tips for Invasion:Blastoids:
  • Filling up the meter at the bottom of the screen will make you able to shoot super blastoids when it it filled up. Once you've filled it up when a level ends, you can sometimes unlock a bonus level as well for loads of extra points (we're not fully sure how the bonus levels work at the moment.)
  • During bonus levels, keep shooting to get as many Super blastoid combo's as possible!
  • You can collect red planets (collecting 10 of them gives an extra live) and green capsules (will make your ship invincible for a short while) by shooting at them. Shoot at them when you get a colour you can't use to ad at that moment.
  • Aim carefully, so you'll only be destroying the blastoids. If you get a rock in the line which is not a matching colour (like a red one between two yellow rocks, this will only make you line longer, meaning it will take you more time to destroy the blastoid.
  • Avoid hitting rocks and space trash, they'll only waste your shot, making you loose time during which the blastiods will get closer to Neopia!
  • If you hit the brown rock in a blastoid, it will continue as a blastoid on it's own, threatening Neopia as well! Destroy all the other rocks and you can get rid of the brown one with a single shot in any colour.

Whatcha Gonna Do When They Come for You?

Post a score of 350 or more playing Trouble at the National Neopian.

Tips for Trouble at the National Neopian:
  • If a thief gets away before you can jail him, the thief will steal points from you, and you'll also lose a life. Points are also subtracted if you hit a key corresponding to a door where there is no thief, or if you try to convert your points into a bar of gold when you have less than 100 points.
  • Every time you get 100 points, hit the space bar to convert your points into a bar of gold. Once you convert your points into a bar of gold, those points are "safe" and can't be subtracted from your total if you make a mistake.
  • Once you reach 550 points (5 bars of gold and 50 points), hit Q to end your game. Otherwise, you're in danger of falling below 550 points when you make mistakes and points are subtracted.
  • Alternatively, keep playing until you've got 6 bars of gold (worth 600 points.) That way, when your game ends, you can't possibly have less than 600 points.
  • This game is based largely on visual recognition, so playing the game on a larger size may make it easier to see and recognise everything.
  • Occasionally, a guy in an orange shirt holding money bags (known as The Phantom Orange Shirt Guy, or TPOSG) will appear. Let him pass and he'll give you 25 points.

Ex-Terminator

Send a minimum score of 200 or higher playing Smug Bug Smite.

Tips for Smug Bug Smite:
  • Use your mouse to aim and left click to shoot the bug as soon as you see it.
  • There is no difference between the three weapons choices.
  • There are only two bugs to shoot per level and only 3 levels so getting a good time bonus is crucial to beating AAA's score.
  • The bugs appear at a fixed random location so familiarise yourself with their possible spots and get ready to strike to earn the maximum time bonus.
  • Be alert to the surrounding as there isn't much time to catch the bugs in level 3, watch out for their feelers as they are coming out.
  • Sometimes 2 bugs will appear at the same spot so watch closely as the bug in front may be giving cover for the one behind.
  • Try playing the game on the small setting so you have less area you need to cover.

Just Can't Keep Still

Reach a score of 150 or greater playing Meerca Chase II and a score of 350 or better playing Wingoball.

Tips for Meerca Chase II:
  • Check out our Meerca Chase 2 Game Guide.
  • superextrahypergravitymode: Unlocks the secret Gravity Level when typed on the main screen.
  • ferociousneggsareontheloose: Unlocks the secret Ferocious Level when typed on the main screen.
  • Play in Gravity Mode. The neggs are all worth the most points in this version, and therefore even if you aren't good at the game, all you need is a bit of luck getting a Power Negg or Fish Negg to get a good score!

Tips for Wingoball:
  • Practice the game until you learn the levels. Figure out where you need to click in each level in order to get the ball to go across the finish line. Look for "landmarks" in the level (the tip of a blade of grass, the corner of a block, etc.) that you can use to help you remember where to click. Once you've memorised where to click in order to get the ball across the finish line, then you can finish each level on your first shot every time and get a lot of bonus points.
  • The faster you finish a level, the more points you get, so once you know where to put your mouse pointer, shoot quickly. You may also try using different browsers or putting the game on low quality in order to speed it up and help you get a bigger time bonus.
  • Try not to hit the red gnomes, as this will cause your ball to disappear, thus wasting valuable time. Hitting the green gnome will make the ball bounce around.
  • If you get a ball through a level on your first try, you get 25 bonus points. Do this in as many levels as possible.

Meerca Garden Gnome
Game Challenge
Not on My Watch!

Reach a score of 150 or greater playing Attack of the Revenge.

Tips for Attack of the Revenge:
  • The game code blackpawkeet gives an extra life when used on level 3 or higher. One use per game.
  • In the beginning of each level, you will have some downtime - time when no pirates are attacking. In the earlier levels, you should also have some pirate-free time after defeating 2 or 3 of them. In the later levels, you need to defeat 4-7 pirates before you have a short break. During these breaks, take time to reload your cannons and move to the center of the first plane.
  • If you lose lives because of the pirates you can lose all of them in a single level. So if you have reached the point where your fingers can't keep up with all the game's elements, it's time to let your cannons catch fire.
  • From Levels 2-5, try to hit every pirate with a cannonball, if possible. After level 6, you should start defeat pirates in the order in which they appear and don't worry so much about hitting them with cannonballs - unless you happen to spot Captain Scarblade.

Tips for Kass Basher:
    • Check out our Kass Basher.
    • The highest wind speed is 9. If you wait for the wind speed to be 9, you can hit the Kass further.
    • Try to hit the Kass when it's near the top of the bat.
    • Hold down the left mouse button or the spacebar as the Kass is rising, then release it when the Kass starts falling.
    • Click the mouse button or spacebar each time the Kass hits the ground to make it bounce and go further.
    • You must play with the bat in order to get AAA's score. If you don't have the bat, you can unlock it by getting good scores with the bread and then the stick. Follow the tips above when using the bread and the stick, and you should be able to unlock the bat.

Clowning Around

Reach a score of 250 or greater playing Carnival Of Terror.

Tips for Carnival of Terror:
  • Check out our Carnival of Terror Guide.
  • The game code custard refills the health bar. One use per game.
  • The game code piecrust refills the ammo bar. One use per game.
  • Each clown has a head, an arm, a set of legs, and an inner body. Some clowns also have umbrellas. Occasionally, the clowns will throw pies at you, which you can also shoot. Shooting each of these things gives differing amounts of points:
    • Clown Head: 2 points
    • Clown Legs: 2 points
    • Clown Arm: 3 points
    • Clown Body: 6 points
    • Umbrella: 1 point
    • Pie: 1 point
  • There are also a couple of bonuses which you can shoot:

What Does It Mean, Anyway?

Send a minimum score of 400 or higher playing Sutek's Tomb.

Tips for Sutek's Tomb:
  • The game code pyramibread displays next possible move. Multiple use per game.
  • The game code plzsutekcanihavemoretime gives you 30 seconds extra time. One use per game.
  • Play on hard mode to get more points in a quicker time.
  • Try to get 4 or more tiles in a row; this increases the points you make.
  • There are various special tiles throughout the game which act as bonuses.
    • bomb tile - when this tile drops down three or more spaces it will detonate and it knocks out all the tiles ABOVE the bomb in that column. Handy for sneaky points.
    • golden coin tile - is a wild card. Can be used in any combo.
    • ankh tile - when this tile reaches the bottom of the game screen it will knock out the entire column it is sitting in and the entire row it is sitting in. So it will launch a horizontal and vertical attack - knocking out twice as many!
    • scarab tile - When this tile reaches the bottom of the game screen it will knock out the column it is in.
    • TPOSG tile - a VERY RARE tile. If you happen to see this during the game try your hardest to make it go to the bottom. When it does it will knock out every single tile on the screen and you'll be awarded 500 points. Also your timer will be refilled.
  • With the special tiles, if the game board is reshuffled, the special tiles will disappear
  • If you absolutely feel like you can only play zen mode to obtain this score heed this warning, if the board is reshuffled your score will be reset to 0
  • Try to create your combos at the bottom of the game screen. It makes it easier for tiles to fall from above and gives a greater chance of more combos being made available.
  • Clicking the hourglass pauses the game. While the game is paused you can type in plzsutekcanihavemoretim, and then when you unpause the game, type the final e. This way, you don't have to waste time typing the entire code while the timer is going. The game can only be paused up to 3 times so save those pauses for when you really need them. Also, pausing the game just to give yourself extra time to find combos won't work. The screen will be hidden with an anubis sitting on top.
  • Sometimes there are several possible matches close to each other. If you make the "wrong" match first, then the tiles may be moved in away that ruins your chance of making the other possible matches. Try to make the matches in the "right" order so that you can actually make all the matches without ruining any of them. Also try to make matches that will cause other tiles to fall and automatically make matches for a chain.
  • Try to make vertical matches as opposed to horizontal ones, because they give you a better possibiilty for chains.

Game Challenge

    • Try to hit the Kass when it's near the top of the bat.
    • Hold down the left mouse button or the spacebar as the Kass is rising, then release it when the Kass starts falling.
    • Click the mouse button or spacebar each time the Kass hits the ground to make it bounce and go further.
    • You must play with the bat in order to get AAA's score. If you don't have the bat, you can unlock it by getting good scores with the bread and then the stick. Follow the tips above when using the bread and the stick, and you should be able to unlock the bat.

Those Blasted Bugs!

Send a minimum score of 90 or higher playing Swarm - The Bugs Strike Back.

Tips for Swarm - The Bugs Strike Back:
  • Try not to miss any bugs! You will get more points for consecutive hits.
  • Always keep an eye on the fireballs and make sure to dodge them.
  • Power-ups to avoid: Grow (dark blue) - doubles the size of your tank; Slow (purple) - will slow you down; Laser (white-blue) - lets you clear an entire row of bugs, but the points for this are minimal.
  • Try and hit the big green bug, especially when you have the slugs powerup. It will be much easier to hit then. The first hit get you 20 points, the second 10, the third 5, the fourth 2 and the fifth 1. After that you will not get any points for it. So try hit it at least 3 times.

Additional Challenge Help

For each challenge there are certain requirements that you must meet to beat the challenge, as you can see in the table further up the page. Although challenges are given out daily, you may complete them at any time before the challenge's deadline, which this year is November 30th. For each challenge you complete you are eligible to receive a prize. Once you complete a challenge the little gray gift box will turn into a red or blue gift box, depending on your team. Then you must click on it, a pop up will open and tell you the prize you have been awarded.

The challenges revolve around a group of selected qualifying games. Each year the list of games changes and is expanded. The odd number of games is due to the addition of several sponsor games. For some challenges, people from the USA will play a sponsor game whereas non-USA people will have a different, non-sponsor game.

This year there are 5 types of challenges.

Help Questions and Answers

TNT has decided to make Games Master Challenge a little different this year. Below you can read the updated help questions and answers:

1. When does the Games Master Challenge start and end?
The Games Master Challenge will begin on the afternoon (NST) of November 22nd. Day 1 will end at 11:59:59 pm NST on November 23rd. Each day after that will be a typical 24 hour day from midnight to 11:59:59 pm. The Games Master Challenge will end at 11:59:59 pm on November 29th.

2. What is the difference between Team Heroes and Team Villains?
While there is some overlap in the challenges that the teams will receive, generally speaking, a lot of the games will be based specifically on the challengers.

3. Is AAA involved in this year's GMC?
AAA is back and ready to watch two well-known Neopians duke it out again this year. AAA has recruited the help of Jazan and Razul to serve as the team captains in this years Games Master Challenge and settle once for all which is better, the side of good, or the side of evil. Both are prepared to lead their respective teams in a week-long competition and see whose squad has the better gamers.

4. How do I help my team?
You can earn points for your team by participating in the challenges.

5. What is the meter?
The meter keeps track of which team is winning. At the end of the event, participants on the winning team will receive a prize.

6. What do the check marks mean on the Progress page?
When you complete a challenge on the day it is released, a gold checkmark will appear over the challenge icon. If you complete a challenge on a day other than the day it was released, then the checkmark will be green.

7. Are there different lists of qualifying games for each team?
No, the list of qualifying games is the same for both teams. This is a complete list that includes all of the qualifying games for both teams.

8. How do timed challenges work?
There are a few challenges during the GMC that will be timed. Once a challenges timer has been activated, you will have 12 hours to complete that challenge. If you do not complete the challenge in the time given, you will not receive credit or a prize for that challenge.

9. Once I have selected my team, can I change it later?
No. Once you have selected your team, you are locked in for the duration of the event.

10. Does each team have the same number of challenges?
Yes. No matter which team you select, the level of participation required is exactly the same.
