Altador Cup

The Colosseum is completely filled with teams and supporters alike.  Team Meridell has finally arrived.  After their close call last year, it is no wonder they're last to arrive.  They were all but thought to of had last years Altador Cup, but when the winners were announced, they fell just short on 3rd.  They've been there before in ACVII as well as second place twice in ACXIII and ACXV.  Only time will tell if they have the will to push through last years upset to finally take the cup home this year.  Another hard to guess team is Team Tyrannia.  They've been all over the rankings making them unpredictable.  They have, however claimed the cup in ACXIII and ACVIII.  Will this prehistoric team bring something new to the game this year, or will it be the same old playbook?  New can be shiny and exciting, but nothing beats a classic and original.  Maybe they can find the balance to take a third win for their home town.  Last but not least, Team Virtupets is now taking to the field for practice.  Another unpredictable yet tough team to beat, Virtupets took the cup back in ACVI.  They've come close falling in second last year, as well as in ACXIV and ACIX.  However, other years they did well, the following year they fell down to middle to lower ranks.  Will they follow this pattern again and fall in the rankings for this years Altador Cup?  Or will Virtupets rise to the top?  After all, what is one more ranking compared to last year?

Time to get out there and practice!

We are once again all secretly rooting for one of these teams to take their first win!

The Colosseum is nearly full as three more teams arrived today.  Team Moltara has arrived and is hoping to climb even further up the ranks this year.  The team has been an underdog team in all years but ACIX when they came in 3rd.  With last year placing them in 12th, they're hoping to continue to pull from the bottom two spots and climb all the way to the top of the podium!  They are heated up and may just be the team to beat this year.  Team Roo Island has also joined the field.  They have been a top team to beat in the past, but have lately fallen to the middle of the rankings.  Their win was back in ACIII with a second place in ACII and a third place in ACVIII.  In recent years they've been climbing back up from the lower ranks to middle ground landing in 11th place last Altador Cup.  They're hoping to continue with the momentum and show why they are the gaming town of all Neopia.  Team Terror Mountain has always been all over the rankings board.  You never know when it will be their year to go up the ranks, or fall behind.  Last year was however a rough year for them, so perhaps this year could be their time?  They won back in ACXIV.  They feel their training this off season has been a success and are ready to get the games started.

From hot to cold, it is all fun and games!

Another day, another round of teams have arrived at the Colosseum.  Team Kreludor has been a tough team to compete against.  With many podium years on second and third place, they took home first place back in ACVII.  The team enjoys being one of the top contendors but hopes to take home the cup once again and not just another podium spot.  Team Mystery Island has been a bit around the rankings, but mainly in the middle.  They won back in ACXI, and have been climbing the ranks the last couple of years in strides.  Can Mystery Island take home their second win?  Team Shenkuu joined the Altador Cup back in ACII and had its best three years then coming in 3rd, 4th, 2nd.  Since, Shenkuu has been a mid to lower tiered team.  However, last year they came in 7th, and they're hoping this is the year they'll have their hands on the Cup!

The Colosseum is beginning to fill as three more teams have arrived.  Team Brightvale has been a mid to lower team for many Tournaments.  However, in recent years they've been working up the ladder with a 3rd place in ACXV, and last year ACXVII coming in 4th.  They are after that win this year, but the team needs to focus not just on beating Meridell, but being strong and united against all teams.  If they can see Meridell as just another opponent instead of their main competition, they may be able to take it.  Team Lost Desert has been all over the rankings board.  They took home their win back in ACV.  They are an unpredictable team and who knows if this year they'll have what it takes to once again climb the podium, if they'll fall into last place, or anywhere in between.  Only time will tell.  Team Maraqua has also been a wild one, never knowing where the wind and waves will take them.  They've been 3rd twice in ACXII and AC XIV.  Perhaps the winds will sail them right to the top!

We have finally calculated the final week of the SunnyNeo Altador Cup Tournament and the results are in!  Although the SunnyNeo Firebirds were able to tie in week three with the Neopian Crafty Critters, they fell back into 3rd place in week 4.  Although an effort was put forth to avoid last, the SunnyNeo Firebirds sadly landed there.  From there, it was a battle of the Neopian Teams.  The Sonic Serpents managed a first place win every week where the Crafty Critters landed second.  So, the Sonic Serpents took this years SunnyNeo Altador Cup Tournament!  Thank you to all who participated this year!

Our SunnyNeo AC Tournament results are in for week two!  Once again, the SunnyNeo Firebirds have fallen short and landed third place in three of the four games.  Taking second in only Shootout Showdown.  Crafty Critters claimed second place above the Firebirds for second, except they took third in Shootout Showdown.  It was the Sonic Serpents that shockingly took this entire week!  All four games were no problem for these jolty fliers and they claimed first place in all four games, landing them first place yet again this week.  Can the Firebirds have a great week and get off the bottom for the 3rd week?  Can the Crafy Critters de-thrown the Sonic Serpents?  Only time and many, many plays on the Yooyuball Field will tell.

The SunnyNeo AC Tournament Week One results have been finally tallied.  The Neopian teams actually managed to take the SunnyNeo team quite well in week one.  With wins on both their teams, Sonic Serpents did a little better to land them in first this round landing first place in all three side games and taking second in Yooyuball.  Followed by Crafty Critters, who took first in Yooyuball, second in Slushie Slinger.  The SunnyNeo Firebirds managed a second place for Shootout Showdown, but ultimately taking third place in the rest of the games landing them in last place.  It is unclear whether the SunnyNeo team can band together to take on the Neopian teams to turn this around or whether this is a Neopian team vs another Neopian team.  Only time will tell.

Phoenix rise from the ashes... but can the Firebirds?

The second Neopian team to take on the SunnyNeo Firebirds has arrived at the Colosseum!  Although they may be late to the party, this team is not to be underestimated.  The Crafty Critters is comprised of two players from Krawk Island, one from Faerieland, and one from Roo Island.  The diverse make-up of this team will leave the competition guessing.   As a note, we have a returning Neopian user, Nina joining us this year marking this their third Tournament with us.  Please, put your hands together for the magical and mysterious Nina, Stessea, Kentucky, and Camo!

One minute the yooyu was there, the next it was gone.  It was like magic!

And so, the SunnyNeo Firebirds take on the Neopian Sonic Serpents and the Neopian Crafty Critters.  Who will take this years SunnyNeo Altador Cup Tournament??

This year for our SunnyNeo Altador Cup Tournament, we are in our 3rd year of inviting Neopian users likes you, to join in our competition.  However, instead of combining SunnyNeo Staff with Neopian Users, we've decided on a versus tournament!  We are happy to bring on two Neopian teams this year to try and best us.  So, the Neopian Sonic Serpents have entered the Colosseum.  This team is comprised of four players, two supporting Faerieland and two supporting Brightvale.  As a note, we have a returning Neopian user, Kaljinyu joining us this year marking this their second Tournament with us.  Please, put your hands together for the shockingly fast team, Kaljinyu, Dotty, Spirit, and Jos!

For the last two years, SunnyNeo has invited users to join us in our SN Altador Cup Tournament.  This year, we are doing something a little different.  Instead of mixing SunnyNeo staffers with users, we have decided to make this a versus!  So SunnyNeo vs Users like you!  Introducing the SunnyNeo Firebirds!  Amanda, who joined us two Altador Cups ago is entering her 3rd Tournament here with us.  She is a great asset to her team both Neo and SunnyNeo teams.  She is great at encouraging her fellow players whether you are on her team or not.  Her scores on games others don't care for has helped give her team the edge.  Wolf who has been with SunnyNeo for the longest amongst this team has been a powerhouse player.  His dedication to the field has helped his team with Yooyuball goals both in Yooyu Ball and Shootout Showdown.  Padfoot, who has been with Sunnyneo for a few years now, has found being apart of the SN Tournament has helped give her the motivation to make All-Star rank and stay there.  Playing a variety of games helps keep her team tallying points in all the games especially make some noise, so not lose ground in any of them.  Bloom has been with SunnyNeo as well for a few years now.  She in the last year or so has become a great help in revamping guides as well as releasing new ones, and helping wherever she can.  When focused on a task, Bloom has the motivation to see things through.  It would no surprise for her to jump in where her team needs her to help make scores where they are needed.

The Colosseum is bursting at the seams with all teams, supporters, and press.  Haunted Woods has arrived and is ready to climb back to the top.  This team has some records being the team to win the first Altador Cup (AC I, 2006), and then in AC IX (2014) becoming the first team to take the cup a second time.  However since their second win, the team has fallen to lower standings.  Finally making up some ground last year, they're hoping to continue to rise back to the top of the pack.  The team of Krawk Island as made their way into the Colosseum for some practice time.  Although a popular, and a tough team to compete with, Krawk Island last saw the cup in AC IV (2009).  The team has been practicing and trying to find new plays to drive another win for their home town.  Shenkuu has arrived today as well.  Although this team did well their first few years at the Altador cup landing in 3rd, 4th, 2nd, in that order, the team has since fallen to a mid to lower tiered team.  It is unsure why the team has not made a comeback, but they are hoping this year is their year.  They are hoping to call the cup theirs for the first time this AC XVII!

The Colosseum is nearly full with the latest arrivals for this years Altador Cup XVII.  Brightvale has arrived and is hoping this will be their year.  This team has landed lower mid to higher mid on the placement board, even making it to 3rd in AC XV (2020).  Though it is rumored they were more focused last year that they beat Meridell than actually worrying about the rest of the teams.  Hopefully this year they can focus not just on one team to beat, but them all and maybe they can finally take home the cup.  Speaking of Meridell, they have also arrived today!  A team that is typically among the top, Meridell has been on the podium three times, but never that coveted first place.  And although this team as well is a little to focused on beating one team, Brightvale, they do tend to have more focus than the other.  Perhaps one of these kingdoms will be this years Altador Cup XV winner?  Hoping they aren't, is Mystery Island.  They have been all over the placement board by the end of past cups, and the last time they took the cup home was AC XI (2016).  While these two teams pass glares and grudges, Mystery Island is staying focused and showing they are better than their placement of 17th last Altador Cup.

The Colosseum has nearly a full house, missing only a few teams.  Darigan Citadel, a team that typically places higher-mid to higher has last seen the Altador Cup come home with them in AC II (2007).  Eager to show they can in modern times still claim the cup, Darigan Citadel appears to show its strength as they practice.  Another team that is all over the place and yet to claim the first place podium spot is Maraqua.  Only time will tell if the team will play well this year to take the cup this year, if they make it to the middle tiers, or if they flop to the bottom.  Perhaps this year will find them in stranger tides with a first place win.  With quite a few teams being all over the placement board, another team of them, Virtupets, has also arrived.  Virtupets has been among the tougher teams to beat as well as the underdogs.  They did, however manage to win the Altador Cup back in AC VI (2011).  Can this team pull off a last place in AC XVI to first place this AC XVII??  They appear motivated on the practice field.

Has the winner of this AC just arrived??

The Colosseum is beginning to fill up as more teams arrive today.  Last years cup winners and the creators of the cup, Altador, has arrived.  Normally a bottom tiered team and falling second in AC VIII (2013), hope for the team to take home the cup in the game they created appeared impossible.  It was well cheered that they finally took the cup home last year in ACXVI (2021).  Will they return to the bottom, or has the team shown they can compete and keep the momentum going to stay above the pack?  Another sunny team has arrived, Lost Desert.  This team can be unpredictable where they land on the placement charts.  Coming in 4th last year, their last win was back in ACV (2010).  Will this year bring Lost Desert to the top once again?  Or will they slip from 4th to a middle tier?  It all depends on their motivation, drive, and staying hydrated with many slushies.  Kiko Lake made some waves by bringing a new player to their team this year.  It is unknown how this change will affect Kiko Lake's favor.  With this new teammate bring new excitement and drive?  Or with loss of an established player be too much for the team?  Only time will tell.  However, this team runs among the toughest teams to beat winning three years: ACX (2015), ACXII (2017), and again in XV (2020).

Our first look at Lili Lever!

The SunnyNeo Staff Tournament begins with Juji, our scorekeeper, following in with her career long team, Altador.  A fan of all things Altador, Juji has played and cheered her team since day one.  A tough contendor on the field, Juji has been scorekeeping for the SunnyNeo Staff Tournament for many years now.

We are looking for fellow Neopians like yourself, to join us this Altador Cup in our Tournament.  We are looking for all rank levels, so please don't hesitate to reach out.  Please neomail Jujipup with your target rank.  If chosen, you will be asked a couple of questions and then Juji handles everything from there, keeping track of your scores to add to your teams total.

Another wave of teams have arrived at the Colosseum today.  As we reported yesterday - nested to not spoil some - the first team Kreludor has a new player Motor Dahy replacing Zenor Kevix.  Perhaps having a new player on their team will give Kreludor the excitement it needs to bring home the cup this year.  They are among the top teams of the cup in general, falling in second place many times including last year, and haven't taking home the cup since AC VII (2012).  Moltara a known underdog of the cup has arrived hoping to get more pratice time on the field before other teams.  Since making their jump from bottom to a few teams above that, they're hoping to use that momentum and climb to the top.  Could this be their year??  As super fans of fun and all thing games, Roo Island has arrived.  This team has been all over the board, but the last few yeras haven't been the greatest for Team Roo.  With that in mind, they are bound to bounce back and perform well this season.  This team hasn't taken home the cup since AC III (2008) having people second guess if they truly are 'King of Games'.  With that to prove, they have the drive.  Among the three teams to arrive today, Moltara is the one team to not take home the cup yet and like Faerieland, do they have that drive to prove they can claim that elusive cup for their home town?

SunnyNeo is bringing back our SunnyNeo Altador Cup Staff Tournament. Like the last two years, we're hoping to have fellow players like you join us!    We try to  make the teams as even as we can so this is the first step to doing so.  Last years was so close all three teams nearly tied, with one team barely not keeping up with the two front runners (first placers were 1.25, and 2nd place was 1.5).  If you are interested in taking part of our tournament, please neomail Jujipup with your target rank.  If chosen - you will be ask a few more questions and then all you have to do is play in the Altador Cup.  Juji as the scorekeeper handles keeping tabs on team points.

The Colosseum has had a little bit of a makeover this year!  The Altador Cup Pre-Turnament Press pages are fresh and new.  Be sure to check them out as the teams arrive!  The first three teams have come early to get the most practice on the field.  First up, we have Faerieland who seeing their fellow underdog team Altador take the cup, are hoping this is their year to bring the cup home!  Team Terror Mountain has continued to be all around the placement board with their win of the Altador Cup was just last AC XIV (2019).  So it is hard to say where they'll end up this year, however, a headstart on the field may be a sign of good favor?  Tyrannia is another who's been all over the placement board with their win back in AC XIII (2018).  Among the three first to arrive, Faerieland has yet to take the cup home and appears to have the most drive so far to claim this years cup.

It appears looking at some of the teams images for this year, that there will be some changes to two teams.  We've nested them here in case you do not want to be spoiled before they are released.  Click on the images below to open up the image of the teams with a new teammate if you wish to know.
