Shootout Showdown (SOSD)

In 2009, Shootout Showdown made its appearance during the AC IV. In this game, you take control of a Yooyuball player (fisheye lens) and try to score a goals against your opponents goalkeeper, the Jelly Chia. The aim is to score 5 goals as quickly as possible, within 60 seconds, without missing or letting the goalkeeper save your shots.

Shootout Showdown is in HTML5, and can be played on either the computer or on a mobile device.

How to Play

Shootout Showdown is all about scoring goals past the Jelly Chia. In the past, this had been deemed easier to do, but after the HTML5 update, the Jelly Chia goalkeeper has learned some new moves, making him much more of a challenge than in the past. Above the goalpost you can find the timer, shots scored, and shots taken.

Controls & Gameplay

Using gaming fisheye lens in gameplay, you are taking control of a Yooyuball player, trying to score goals. Depending on what device you are using, there are different controls in playing the game.

Computer

Using the arrow keys you can move the Yooyuball to the position you prefer then shoot; or you can begin to charge your shot by holding down the space bar, then using the arrow keys to angle the shot in the direction you choose.

The space bar is how you kick the Yooyuball. Holding the space bar down charges how hard you kick the Yooyuball. There is a meter on the bottom-left corner that will show you how much power you have in your kick.

Mobile

On mobile, you can tap the screen to position the Yooyuball where you want, hold down a tap to charge the shot, and swipe to shoot. Alternatively, you can begin to charge your shot by holding your finger down, then swiping to angle the shot in the direction you choose.

Holding your finger down is how you charge your shot. Just like the computer version, there will be a power meter on the bottom left-hand corner that will show you how much power you have in your kick.

Scoring

At the end, your score is made up of 3 parts: the amount of goals, your time bonus, and your accuracy bonus. They are added together to give you your final score.

For every goal that is scored, you will earn 35 points. Every game needs 5 goals scored, which means you should be earning 175 points for the amount of goals scored.

For your time bonus, you get 14 points for every 1 second. So if you finish with 50 seconds left, you get a 700 point time bonus.

Heads up! Due to the changes in format, now when you score a goal, the time continues to count down while you are unable to take your next shot. Therefore, it now makes it impossible to get the 5 goals in 10 seconds.

Lastly, your accuracy bonus is based on how many goals you got compared to how many shots it took you to get to 5 goals. If you get a perfect 5 goals for 5 shots, then you get 300 points. If it takes you anywhere from 6-10 shots to get 5 goals, you get 100 points for your accuracy bonus. If it takes you 11 shots or more to score 5 goals, then you get 0 points for your accuracy bonus.

Strategies

Score goal, then aim right away
Even though you cannot move or shoot once you make a goal, if you click or tap where you want the Yooyuball in that time, when it can begin to move, it will move right to that position. When timing is scored in this game, this will help you shave a few seconds off your play time to increase your score.

Go to one side
If you go to one side, the Jelly Chia can only come at you from one side, not both. Also, as the goalkeeper glides back and forth, he doesn't always go to the far edges– but can. Then you can either aim straight, or slightly inward. You can get the Yooyuball to sneak right past him a good percentage of the time.
