April Fools Jokes

Why this page?
Every year on April 1st The Neopets Team tries to pull everyone's leg by changing something to the site that is rather radical. For example in 2006 they told everyone they would have to start paying taxes for every page load. We decided to start making a log of TNT's April fools jokes, starting April 1st, 2007. From the years before 2007 we've tried to gather some information to give you insights in the older jokes.

April 1st, 2011

In 2011 your Neopet would become ill with a strange disease you never heard of.



Later that day the disease was reveiled, namely Scourgies.



Neopets that cannot be customised, like Maraquan, Mutant, Baby and UCs, do not show any visible signs off the disease. However, going to their look-up will show they are suffering from it too.

If you visted your Neopets Pet Lookup, you would also see a new button:



So unless you want to keep your Neopet looking all bumpy and pinkish, it's time for us to take them to the Hospital. But what's this? The Hospital got a revamp:



The Cures
You have 5 different types or cures to choose from:

Freezing Cold Ice Pack	Blazingly Hot Soup	Indistinguishable Healing Goop
Haphazardly Placed Splints	Magical Healing Slorgs

Your Neopets will become ill once you login to your account. The cure itself only lasts about 30 minutes, so after that your Neopet will be covered in lumps again. You won't be able to cure your own Neopet, so you have to ask someone else to cure them. When you cured someone else's pet with Blazing Hot Soup you could receive a random event and receive this special item:





Just like the disease won't show up on Neopets that cannot be customised, the cure will not show up on these Pets either.

The Pharmacy

Going to the Pharmacy to get a cure for your Neopet's disease won't help.

When browsing the site you could see this hazard sign at the top of your screen, marking the quarantine zones. As the day progressed more and more signs were put up:

At midnight 0.00 am NST the quarantine was over and all Neopets turned back to normal.
