What is the Neopian Lottery?
The Neopian Lottery is a daily game of chance. As with all lotteries, you have the opportunity to purchase tickets in hopes of winning a grand Neopoint prize. The daily can be accessed from the Games Room.

 

How to Play:
Every single day, you are allowed to purchase up to 20 lottery tickets for 100 NP a piece. Each ticket has six numbers, personally selected by you from the numbers 1 to 30. They must be six different numbers; that is, you cannot use the same number twice in the same ticket.

Below, you can see what the page looks like for purchasing a ticket. Simply enter in your six numbers in each of the slots and press "Buy a Lottery Ticket!" You do not have to enter the numbers in any particular order.
 

The Neopian Lottery is run everyday at 4am NST. It costs 100 Neopoints to play, and 100% of the prizes are shared amongst the players, plus a 5,000 Neopoint bonus!!! Winning the Lottery:
While the lottery page itself says that the lottery runs at 4am NST, it is roughly at 8:25pm NST every morning. A drawing is held to select the six winning numbers of the day. The person who has selected the highest number of correct numbers is the one who will be awarded the Neopoint prize pool. This pool has a base starting value of 5,000 NP at the beginning of each morning, and then grows as more and more people buy tickets. This means that the more people spend on lottery tickets, the more the winner(s) will get!

Often, there won't be anybody who has guessed all six numbers correctly. In that case, the Neopoint pool will be split evenly between everybody who successfully guessed five of the six numbers. If nobody guessed five numbers, then everybody who guessed four of the six correctly gets an equal share of the pool. Which four or five numbers of the six that were guessed does not matter, and will be different amongst the winners.


Strategy:
Winning the lottery obviously requires some luck. However, there is a way to increase your chance of winning! The following method is likely to give you a win at some point in time; however, it is not guaranteed to give you a net gain in Neopoints. This means that you may lose Neopoints by playing this way!

Rather than simply buying one ticket, you should buy all 20 available tickets to you, every single day. Although the 20 tickets you buy have different numbers, each day you will buy the same set of 20 tickets. This method will be the most effective if you really do this every single day, without fail. Basically, you're playing the same numbers and waiting for the lottery to pick them, rather than trying to guess each day what will be chosen.

By changing the numbers in the link, you can edit it to have the six numbers you have chosen. Choose 20 sets of six numbers; create your links and bookmark them all in a separate folder in your bookmarks. Now, all you have to do every single morning is go into your bookmark folder and open all the links in new tabs (directions below). You will have succeeded then in purchasing all 20 of your tickets in just a few seconds!

Mozilla Firefox: Go into your bookmarks and place your mouse over the desired folder. The contents of the folder will open up, and at the very bottom you will see "Open All in Tabs."

Google Chrome: Right click on the bookmarks folder and select "Open All Bookmarks" (the very first option!).


Another strategy you can use is to buy 40 tickets for the same day. This means you will only play every other day though. Neopets limits the amount of tickets to 20 a day, as we discussed above. However, since the lottery restarts around 8:25pm NST, you can actually buy 20 tickets after the lottery has refreshed for the day, so between 8:30pm NST and 11:59pm NST (check to make sure lottery has happened for the current day already first). Then after 12am NST but before 8:00pm NST, you buy another 20 tickets. This will give you 40 tickets for the same lottery pull. This method only allows you to enter the lottery every other day. It has been brought up in the NT editorial as being currently allowed.
 

Other Ways of Obtaining Tickets:
Aside from simply purchasing your own lottery tickets, the site provides a couple of additional ways of obtaining lottery tickets. The neat thing about these methods is that they are immune to the 20 tickets a day rule-- you can get a 21st ticket with them!

Random Event
Sometimes, you will get a random event in which a passerby hands you a lottery ticket!
 

"You look like you could use some luck!" He hands you a lottery ticket with the following numbers: # # # # # #. "I hope you win!"

Wheel of Monotony

The Wheel of Monotony has a lottery ticket space that when you land on it, you get a free lottery ticket!

Dice-A-Roo

Lottery tickets may also be obtained when playing Dice-A-Roo. Though nothing normally happens when the question mark die is rolled, when a yellow one is rolled there is a chance of winning a lottery ticket.

Trophies:
Playing the Neopian Lottery is a very simple way to add a trophy to your collection. Trophies are awarded by the amount of Neopoints won. Since the prize pool is determined by how many people have bought tickets, you want to get as many people as possible to play! The table below shows the images of the trophies and how many Neopoints you have to win to get it. Keep in mind that multiple winners on a given day split the prize pool evenly!

In 2014, TNT released a new avatar. It is awarded for winning the lottery. It was glitched for the longest time, but then in September 2018, TNT fixed it and awarded all previous winners the avatar retroactively.
