Job Description

We've had job applications open for game guide writers, tutorial writers and battledome. We are now also looking for people who would enjoy writing guides about various topics related to neopets but which are not game or battledome guides. If you're full of ideas of guides you'd like to write for SunnyNeo, please apply.

We do not have set in stone rules about the frequency at which you should be able to deliver guides. We prefer quality over quantity. As a guideline you could think about completing a guide every month. Of course you can make more if you have time. If you have a period in which you have little time, because of your school or job, we will respect this.

Requirements

The person we are looking for must meet the following qualifications.

  • You must have research skills. We would like our guides to be in-depth and full of details. If you do not have the information ready, you may need to roam the world wide web to find it. Alternatively you may need to make boards or neomail people to find the information, so you should not be shy about this.

  • You must have average or expert level with HTML and and you must know a bit about CSS (at least beginner level). Without knowledge of HTML you will not be able to update our pages.

  • You must have a good graphics program and you must know how to use it. Guides are useless without graphics. Not all programs can deliver good quality or have all the options you will need. You need to at least be able to crop, resize, watermark and compress your images. If you don't have such a program, try learning how to work with a free program such as Gimp or Paint.net.

  • You are okay with the fact that your guides will not have any credit directly to you on them. You will however be placed on the About Us page as a guide writer so you will still get credit due there.

  • You must have good writing skills. When you write something, others must be able to understand what you are saying. SunnyNeo has a lot of younger users, they too must understand your guides.

  • You accept that when you make something for the site it will then become the site's and if you were to ever leave, the guides you contributed would stay.

  • You plan on doing this job for quite a long time. We are not looking for people who will quit after a month. Please only apply if you're sure you will enjoy this job.

  • You are able / allowed to download and install an FTP Program. We use this program to upload files on the SunnyNeo webserver and edit them as well. Without this program you will not be able to upload your work.

  • You do not work for another Neopets related website.

  • You are okay with us giving you some criticism on your guide and you would not mind to make alterations where needed.

Preferences

Below you can see a list of our preferences. You do not need to meet these preferences, but it's a big bonus if you do. If you don't meet our preferences you can still apply, after all, they're preferences, not requirements.

  • You are able to quickly help write guides for plots and other site events. This would require you to be on neopets quite frequently and it would require you to do an update fairly quickly as we would like to post new updates as soon as possible.

  • You are out of highschool, or 15/16 years or older.

  • You have Discord (preferred) or Skype.

Important!!

Please read the note below. We will not take any applications into consideration without a sample guide.

Before you decide to apply for the position of Guide Writer at SunnyNeo you MUST make a petpage with a sample guide that you have made. You can use a guide you've previously made, or make one specially for SunnyNeo. We will not be judging your guide on the layout, we care about the contents, so feel free to use a premade layout.

So what should you put in your sample guide?
You should try to make your guide ready to be published on SunnyNeo. This means that your guide must be complete. You must describe all the ins and outs about the topic. If there is something interesting to know about it, mention it. Read up on our existing guides to see how in-depth they are. Also look at the style of writing in SunnyNeo's guides. Your guide must be similar in style and set-up. Use images to support your guide, that way we can not only judge your writing, but also your skill in making supporting images.

Please work on making a good, solid guide before applying. Your guide will put the most weight in your application, so make sure its 100% done when you send in your application form. Don't worry if it takes longer than a day for you to make.

If you get accepted, the work on your guide will be used as content on SunnyNeo (with possible alterations).

Finally, make sure that your neomail is not on neofriends-only. If we like your work we will contact you for some further details.
