Ye Olde Fishing Vortex

Ye Olde Fishing Vortex is an underwater fishing cavern located in the Ruins of Maraqua. It was discovered on June 20, 2005 shortly after the end of the Curse of Maraqua plot. Each pet can fish in the tavern once a day. Reset is about every 24 hours, and it is determined by the last time your pet has gone fishing. Fishing in the Vortex is free.

How to Play

Each of your pets has a chance to earn a prize or skill level when going fishing. You can visit Ye Olde Fishing Vortex approximately every 24 hours. Each pet resets with their own 24 hour countdown rather than resetting at midnight.

When you arrive at the Vortex, you are greeted to fish. Click Reel in Your Line and your active pet will cast their line.

Welcome to the underwater fishing cavern! This trapped air pocket has created an underwater lake with all kinds of strange and wondrous sea creatures, as well as some... other interesting things. Take a place on the jetty and start fishing! But be patient. You might have to wait a while between catches.

Unsuccessful Catch

There are two ways you can be unsuccessful with fishing. The first is that your pet reels in their line and nothing is caught, not even their fishing level increases. The other is if you fish too recently, not waiting for your pet's reset. As mentioned, every pet's reset is different and it can be as minimum as 2 hours to at most 24 hours before being able to fish again.

How to Play in the Companion App

Ye Olde Fishing Vortex can be played daily and will count towards your Quest Log task. All items earned will automatically go into your account's inventory. Playing this daily on the app can have you quickly switch your active pet at the top of the page. This will allow you to fish with a different pet.

Fishing through the app is interactive where you can reel in your rod after its been cast. (You can also choose to skip the interactive scene by pressing Skip at the top right-hand corner.) You can also get a second cast with one pet as an in-app exclusive. Premium Subscribers will be able to cast a second cast with one pet right away while non-Premium Subscribers will have to watch an ad first.

Leveling Up

When your active pet starts to fish, they will start at level 0. Every time your pet catches an item, there will be a chance that they can also level up, too. The higher your pets level, the more you'll be able to catch items with various rarities. The highest fishing level your pet can reach is 500.

When you choose to transfer your pet to a different account or abandon your pet at the pound, their fishing level will go back down to 0. It has been confirmed that if you retrieve the same pet you transferred or pounded, their fishing level will revert back to what it is as it connects with your account.

Additionally, you can purchase an item that will help increase your pet's fishing level. It will allow your pet to gain 1 to 3 levels. You can either buy the books from user shops or you can catch it from fishing in the Vortex after level 20.

Aside from leveling up when fishing, you can also have chances to reel in items. While there are common items to grab, the higher your level, the higher the chance of getting rare items.
