Grave Danger

What is Grave Danger?
On November 8th, 2013, a new daily was released called Grave Danger. Located in Neovia, you can chose a petpet to enter the catacombs in hopes of uncovering treasure. Be careful! Your petpet may end up stuck in the catacombs for hours on end. This is a real-time daily that can take up to 7-8 hours before completed.

There is also an NC component to this daily where you can either purchase equipment to uncover limited time treasure or a Grave Danger Time Saver Fortune Cookie which allows you to quicken your petpet's adventure in the catacombs. Click here to learn more about the NC portion of this daily.
 

Choosing A Petpet Wisely
Any petpet that you send off to adventure into the catacombs cannot participate in other site activities such as the Petpet Laboratory, nor can you remove the petpet from your pet. Additionally, the pet that the petpet is attached to cannot be traded or abandoned at the pound.  

Putting Your Petpet in Grave Danger
Choose a petpet to put in Grave Danger. Petpets must be attached to a pet to qualify for this daily.

Once you click on a petpet, there will be a blue box around it. Click "Choose a Petpet!" to confirm your choice.
 

Underneath the chosen petpet, you will notice that there is an "equipment" button. This is related to the NC component of this daily. Click here to learn more about the NC portion of this daily. You do not need to use the NC Mall item to participate in this daily.


Inside the Catacombs
Your brave petpet enters the catacombs to go and explore. Exploring the catacombs can take hours at a time. It's possible for petpets to "be stuck" searching for treasure for 6 to 8 hours in real-time. As of August 25, 2025, a Grave Danger Time Saver Fortune Cookie was released. This NC Mall item for only 125 NC allows you to quicken your petpet's adventure in the catacombs. This item can only be used on main accounts!

Statuses
The status your pet has is simply a comment on what your pet is doing, even refering to the Spooky Food Eating Contest catacombs step. This status changes every 10 minutes and does not actually cause any harm to your petpet.

Ate a Grumblebug.	Batted around an old ring with a triangular symbol.
Begging for scraps at the table of a cultist tea party.	Being cuddled by an evil cultist.
Being taught how to glorp by a Gelatinous Non-Cube.	Chased a skidget past a sewer, a dragon, and a mob of Meepits. Survived.
Chasing its tail on Level 92.	Chewing a cultist's robes.
Chewing a slime-covered shoe left by some unfortunate adventurer.	Clambering across the keys of an organ as curses fly in all directions.
Cowered in fear as a skeleton shot arrows at it.	Danced in a circle with Ghost Meepits.
Dancing to some sweet jazz music with a friendly cultist	Dug up some bones and played with them for a bit.
Exploring an empty corridor	Followed its nose to the scent of cinnamon rolls.
Fought a cult dedicated to the destruction of Neopia... then made friends and went out for cupcakes.	Found a peanut.
Found a treasure room! Wandered away without taking anything.	Found an old shoe! Grrr... Rawr!
Got eaten by a Gelatinous Non-Cube... and was spit back out.	Got covered in slime... Ew. That's going to take a good scrubbing.
Got stepped on at a cultist dance party.	Had a staring contest with its doppleganger.
Had a sneezing competition with a dragon.	Invited to be mascot of a cult. Declined the offer.
Located some bacon. Mmm, catacombs bacon.	Made friends with a pile of Spyders and played Chase the Vernax.
Making friends with a giant Globilol.	Nearly got eaten by a Gelatinous Non-Cube.
Observing a banjo duel with some interest.	Played tag with a Psimouse.
Ran away from a hungry zombie.	Rolled in a heap of discarded dung cream sandwiches.
Rolled up in a heap of discarded dung cream sandwiches.	Rooted through a pile of old cultist robes.
Running away from a fire-breathing dragon!	Sitting around on Level 83.
Stepped in a glowing ghostly residue.	Tried on some mummy bandages.
Walking backward with a pair of mummies	Wandered away without taking anything.

If you go to your pet or other Neopian's pet's lookup, you will notice that the petpet attached is in Grave Danger.
 

 

Your Petpet Is Safe
If you wondered what happens in the catacombs, fear not! TNT has stated in their editorial that no harm will come to your petpets if you choose to send them on an adventure through the graveyard. All petpets will eventually return.

Finding Treasure
After your petpet finishes exploring the catacombs, it will bring back treasure.

NC Mall

Before your petpet goes off into the catacombs, you can buy them some equipment in the NC Mall. Equipping these items onto your petpet will not only have them bring back a regular prize, but a NC Mall item, too! Each active NC item can be used one-time for 125 NC. As of August 25, 2025, a new NC Mall item was released. The Grave Danger Time Saver Fortune Cookie allows for players to quicken their Grave Danger experience to earn prizes faster. You can buy this Fortune Cookie in the NC Mall for 125 NC. Equipping your Petpet
You can choose the equipment at the time of choosing a petpet. Click on the "Equipment" button underneath your petpet. If you do not have any equipment items in your inventory, the following message will show up:

 

If you have one (or more) equipment items in your inventory, the following message will show up, and you can continue to equip any of the items to your petpet.
 

Once the items are equipped to your petpet, the "Equipment" button will be checked off with a green check mark.
 
Finding Treasure
Using equipment does not make timing faster with your petpet's search in the catacombs. It will take several hours before your petpet will come back with a prize. This time, however, your petpet will bring two prizes: one from the regular prize pool and the other from the NC prize pool.
 

Current NC Prizes
There is a prize pool for equipping your petpet with an NC item. Each equipment item has a prize pool of items to collect.
