Neocash Freebies
On several occasions, often on special days like Halloween or Christmas or during special events, the NC Mall has been known to give out special free items. All users who can access the NC Mall pages are able to claim these items, whether they have been buying at the NC Mall in the past or not. Claiming these freebie items doesn't force you in any way to buy something at the NC Mall!
Claiming free NC Mall items on side accounts
In the past, items like goodie bags often gave out Neopoint items when opened. These were of course not allowed to be claimed on sides, because you could make a profit on selling these items. However, nowadays goodie bags usually give out a
Neocash item which means you are allowed to claim those on your sides as well.
As a general rule it can be said that it's fine to claim a NC Mall freebie as long as it's only
Neocash or a Neocash item (or an item that gives out only Neocash or Neocash items when opened). It's all right to claim free gift boxes on your side account as well. The moment
Neopoints or Neopoint items are involved, you're not allowed to claim these items.

New accounts
To promote the NC Mall, all new users receive a special goodie. In the past, this was 150
Neocash, which you could spend on an item of your choice. Nowadays the NC Mall gives away a free mystery capsule, which gives you random items when opened.

Almost a year after the NC Mall opening, Neopets away gave a free 150
Neocash for all accounts to redeem. This was later replaced by the NC Mall Welcome Gift. |

This replaced the 150 free Neocash. At the moment, it gives out a free mystery capsule. Mystery capsules give you random items when you open them. |
If you want to get your free NC gift, you need to go to the NC Mall. At the top of the page, as indicated in the screenshot below, you should see an option to 'Claim your FREE NC Gift'.
When you click on 'Claim your FREE NC Gift' the NC Mall will start to process your request. After a few seconds you will be brought to a new screen that shows you
that you have received your gift. You will then find it in your inventory, ready for you to open.
NC Mall Goodie bags
At special days, like Halloween, Valentines day and of course the NC Mall's birthday, the NC Mall gives away free
Neocash Goodie Bags or items that are similar to a Goodie Bag, like the Sparkling Holiday Stocking. When the NC Mall gives out such a free item, you will find it at the front page in the NC Mall for a certain period.
Sometimes the Goodie Bags 'restock' just like in normal Neopets shops and it can take a while refreshing before you are able to see them. Once the item appears, it says it is 'Free' beneath it and you can claim it by clicking on it. In the image below you can see an example.

For most free items, you needed to collect and open the free NC Goodie Bags in order to obtain the free NC item. But, there are also free
Neocash items that are given away during site events, like Springtime Celebration for instance. Free NC items were unique items, that were made especially for the site event. They were not sold in the NC Mall.

Free Giftboxes
Free gift boxes are the latest addition to the free items that have been given out at the NC Mall. They fill in the gap for those users who cannot buy Neocash Cards and who are therefore not able to trade or gift away
Neocash items. This changed when these gift boxes were given out. Like Goodie Bags, the free
Gift Boxes appear at the front page of the NC mall, where you can claim them by clicking on them.

The Nickelodeon game Monkey Quest also uses NC (or NickCash, as they call it) as it currency. It gave out 150 free NC for it's players as a special offer during December 2011. You would get the free NC when logging into the side with your neopets account. If you redeemed this free NC on Monkey Quest, it would get credited to your NC total on Neopets as well, meaning you could either spend it on Monkey Quest or Neopets (or Petpet park). You were also able to claim this free NC on side accounts. |
Qasalan Expellibox
The Qasalan Expellibox is a luck or chance game that can be played once a day. The goal of it it to get a scarab as far out of Qasala as possible.
When you win the top prize and the scarab reaches Kreludor, you'll be rewarded 150 free neocash!
