General Info:
If you want to become a Defender of Neopia, you will need to have some skills. You need quick reflexes, and instant recognition of things that can be found in Neopia, such as pets, petpets and items. In this game you will be tested to see if you have got what it takes to become a Defender of Neopia.

How to play:
In this game you will be presented a combination of pets, petpets and items, and there will be a question. Your goal is to answer this question as quickly as possible, either way: before time runs out. The question will be in the form of 'Which starts with the letter S?' or 'Which is an anagram of '...'?'. You need to click on the pet, petpet or item that is the answer to the question.

It's not as easy as it sounds though, apart from great knowledge about things in Neopia, you also need to watch carefully, the pictures don't just sit there, sometimes they will also move around, get shown upside down, in shadow, or made extremely tiny and you still need to know which is what!
Or things will be made harder on the question part, questions will be reversed, like: 'Which does NOT start with the letter S?'

You will be given three lives, you lose a life if you run out of time, or if you give the wrong answer. This means you need to be careful and look closely at the question and answers, but not too closely, or you'll run out of time!
You can also earn lives, you will be given a life for every 200 points you score.

Difficulties:
You can choose from three difficulties, easy, medium or hard. Each round will have 10 questions, and there will be 9 different rounds.

The most significant difference between easy, medium and hard is the amount of options you are given as possible answers, on easy there will be 4 different options, on medium 6 different options, and on hard there will be 9 different options.

Another difference is the hardness of the questions and answers. As easy will mostly ask you a question with normal images, on hard it often occurs that the images will move around or are in shadow. The questions will also be reversed more often on the higher difficulties, like 'Which is NOT ...? '.

Scoring Points:
You can score points by solving the questions as quickly as possible. You will get a time bonus for the time remaining when you've answered a question. You also get points for accuracy, the more questions you get right, the more bonus points. It depends on the difficulty you're playing on how many points you get for each round. You get least points for easy, and most for hard.

Training:
Before starting this game, it's best to start memorising the things that can be asked. If you know all of these, and can think of their name instantly when you see a picture, you'll be ready for the game.

Some of these pictures might look different from the pets and petpets as you know them. This is because Neopets still uses the old unupdated pictures.

The rounds:
Each round in Defender Trainer is different, there will be different answers to choose from, and the questions will change. Another thing is, that the further you move up in rounds, the less time you will have to answer a question.

Round 1: Round one will show you 4, 6 or 9 images of Pets, depending on what difficulty you chose to play. You will be asked questions in the form of 'Which starts with the letter S?'. You will have 8 seconds to click on the right answer.

Round 2: Round two will show you 4, 6 or 9 images of Petpets, depending on what difficulty you chose to play. You will be asked questions in the form of 'Which starts with the letter S?'. You will have 7 seconds to click on the right answer.

Round 3: Round three will show you 4, 6 or 9 images of a mix of Pets and Petpets, depending on what difficulty you chose to play. You will be asked questions in the form of 'Which is an anagram of '...'?'. Anagrams are when the letters of a word are mixed up, so could Flotsam be mixed up to 'talmfso'. You will have 6 seconds to click on the right answer.

Round 4: Round four will show you 4, 6 or 9 images of Foods & Other, depending on what difficulty you chose to play. You will be asked questions in the form of 'Which is an anagram of '...'?'. You will have 5 seconds to click on the right answer.

Round 5: Round five will show you 4, 6 or 9 images of a mix of Pets, Petpets and Foods & Other, depending on what difficulty you chose to play. You will be asked questions in the form of 'Which starts with the letter S?'. You will have 4 seconds to click on the right answer.

Round 6: Round six will show you 4, 6 or 9 images of a mix of Pets and Petpets, depending on what difficulty you chose to play. You will be asked questions in the form of 'Which has the longest name?'. You will have 3 seconds to click on the right answer.

Below you can see a list of the longest names in the game. It is not very likely that you will have to click on a pet with a name shorter than 7 letters, so those are not listed.

10 Letters: Drackonack, Tuskaninny*
9 Letters: Elephante, Meowclops, Puppyblew, Snowbunny
8 Letters: Blumaroo, Doglefox, Kadoatie, Scorchio
7 Letters: Cobrall, Cybunny, Flotsam, Kacheek, Peophin, Quiggle, Snorkle, Triffin
*Game error: eventhough they have the same amount of letters, Tuskaninny will be counted as more letters than Draconack, so you must always pick Tuskaninny if both are present.

Round 7: Round seven will show you 4, 6 or 9 images of a mix of Pets and Petpets, depending on what difficulty you chose to play. You will be asked questions in the form of 'Which has the shortest name?'. You will have 3 seconds to click on the right answer.

Below you can see a list of the shortest names in the game. It is not very likely that you will have to click on a pet with a name longer than 5 letters, so those are not listed.

Round 9: Round nine will show you 4, 6 or 9 images of a mix of Pets, Petpets and Foods & Other, depending on what difficulty you chose to play. You will be asked questions in the form of 'Which contains the letters G and P?'. You will have 3 seconds to click on the right answer.

Round 10: Round ten will show you 4, 6 or 9 images of a mix of Pets, Petpets and Foods & Other, depending on what difficulty you chose to play. You will be asked questions in the form of 'Which has the most vowels?'. You will have 3 seconds to click on the right answer.

Tips:
- Play the game on a high game screen size, that way, when the images get made smaller, you can still see what they are, instead of just seeying a little dot on your screen.

- If you have a question where the answers move around (it will say Moving Targets in the top left corner if this is the case), don't click on the answer as soon as you found it, wait till they've just moved, that way you wont be clicking on an image that just changed place.

- Read carefully! Sometimes it asked you which.. NOT has something, you wouldn't want to end up clicking the one that does have that somehting.

- When your goal is to find the begin letter, think of the sound it makes, or make the sound if you can, and scan the screen on possible answers while you do so. It will be easier for you to get to the right answer, as you stay more focussed on the letter and the beginning of the answer you're looking for.
