What is the "13 Days of Trick or Treat"?
First launched in October, 2010, Neopets has a NC Mall Halloween activity called 13 Days of Trick or Treat. Buy your ticket and place your goodie bag(s), and you'll get some fun items!
How do I participate?
Buy goodie bags at the NC Mall. There are a total of 13 bags for this year. You will be able to collect one full bag per day . You can purchase bags in different amounts, but the more bags in your pack, the sooner you need to purchase your ticket! You will have until November 8th to collect your goodies. If a day has passed, you cannot place your bag in that location. You may also participate in 13 Days of Trick or Treat on side accounts. For more information, see the FAQ below.

How do I place my bags?
After purchasing your ticket at the NC Mall, go to your inventory and activate your bag pack. Then visit the 13 Days of Halloween page to place your bags. You can choose where on the page to place each bag.
Bag packs purchased during 2010 must be used during 2010; they will not work in future years. You cannot go back and place bags for days that have passed, but you may place a bag for the current day.
What is in the goodie bags?
That's the surprise, isn't it? The contents should be "exclusive NC item prizes", not items that are regularly available for sale in the NC Mall. For this event you may get the regular item, or get tricked or pranked instead.
According to TNT, you you cannot recieve multiples of the trick prizes:

This means, once you've recieved the Egg Splat Shower and the Halloween Prank Background (and perhaps some other tricks that we do not know of yet), you won't recieve anymore trick prizes.

Bonus
If you completed all thirteen days of Trick or Treat, you'll apply for a special bonus item. To get this bonus item, you'll have to visit the Trick or Treat page again. There, you'll notice another bag, with a '?' on it. Clicking on this bag will give you a Halloween Candy Bowl Hat and 2 basic gift boxes.

What is the 13 Days of Trick or Treat event?
Do you dare knock on the door to see who is waiting behind it? The 13 Days of Trick or Treat is an NC Mall event available during Halloween in which you can knock on the door daily to find a Trick or a Treat. Visit the NC Mall to purchase Halloween Bags (sold in packs of 1, 5, or 13) and then go to your Inventory to activate them. After your Halloween Bags have been activated, you can visit the 13 Days of Trick or Treat page to apply your Halloween Bags. You can apply up to 13 Halloween Bags per account during the 13 Days of Trick or Treat event. Starting on October 19th, you will be able to knock on the door to claim your NC virtual item prize. You can apply your Halloween Bags and claim your NC item prizes until November 8th. There is also a chance to receive a bonus NC virtual item prize.
How long will this event last?
You can start purchasing Halloween Bags during the pre-sale, which runs from October 15th until the 18th. You can continue to purchase them during the event, which begins on October 19th and ends October 31st, but since you won't be able to go back to previous days, some of the Halloween Bag packs won't be available. You will be able to apply your Halloween Bags during the pre-sale, but you won't be able to open the door and claim your prize until the event starts on October 19th. Starting on October 19th, you can knock on the door to see who and what you will get. You can also go back to previous days as long as you have already purchased and applied your Halloween Bags for those days. Halloween Bags will no longer be sold starting November 1st, and you will have until November 8th at 11:59:59pm NST to claim your prizes if you have already applied your Halloween Bags. After that date, your virtual items will automatically go into your Inventory. Note: This will not affect your chances of receiving a Trick or Treat item prize.
How do I purchase Halloween Bags?
Visit the NC Mall to purchase Halloween Bags in packs of 1, 5, or 13. The number of bags in the pack represents how many times you can open the door and receive an NC item prize. For example, if you purchase a five-pack of Halloween Bags, you will be able to open the door five times and receive five NC virtual items. Please be aware, though, that you will not be able to open the door more than 13 times over the course of the event, even if you purchase more than 13 Halloween Bags. Also, you won't be able to go back to previous days if a Halloween Bag has not already been applied for those days. If you have mistakenly purchased more than 13 Halloween Bags, you're welcome to gift your extra Halloween Bags to other users using NC Gift Boxes.
When can I knock on the door to claim my prize?
The door can be opened if your Halloween Bag has been applied and the applied bag is in its coloured state. The day on which the door can be opened is indicated by the number that is on the Halloween Bag. At the top of the 13 Days of Trick or Treat page, it will say, "Day: X." If the number on the Halloween Bag matches the number of that day (or is smaller than the number of that day, i.e., a Halloween Bag was applied to a previous day), you will be able to knock on the door and claim your virtual item.
Can I use my applied Halloween Bag on a different day?
No. Once a Halloween Bag has been applied on a specific day, it cannot be moved.
There is a yellow glow around my Halloween Bag. What does that mean?
The yellow glowing Halloween Bag indicates that you have applied it to that day and it can be opened on the current day of the event. If you don't open that particular Halloween Bag on that day, you can still open it and receive your virtual item at a later date. However, if you open the Halloween Bag on a later day, it will no longer be glowing. Please also view the legend at the bottom of the page for all of the Halloween Bag stages.
Can I open the door for days that have passed?
Yes, however, you will need to have purchased and applied the Halloween Bags for those previous days beforehand. You have until November 8th to claim your virtual items, or they will automatically go into your Inventory. Note: This will not affect your chances of receiving a Trick or Treat item prize.
Is it OK to give Halloween Bags to other users?
Yes, you may gift Halloween Bags that have not been activated to other users using NC Gift Boxes (one Halloween Bag Pack per NC Gift Box). Once a Halloween Bag has been activated, it can no longer be gifted. Halloween Bags, as with all Neocash items, cannot be sold or traded.
Can I purchase Halloween Bags and apply them on my side accounts?
Yes, you can purchase Halloween Bags and apply them on any of your (up to) four side accounts. But remember: Neopians are only allowed up to five accounts each. Anything more than that is considered cheating. Halloween Bags will either need to be purchased on your side accounts or will need to be gifted from the purchasing account using NC Gift Boxes.
How many Halloween Bags can I apply at once?
You can apply all of your Halloween Bags at one time. However, the Halloween Bags you are applying must be for either that day or future dates. You won't be able to go back and apply Halloween Bags for previous days. Once applied to a day, a Halloween Bag cannot be moved. Each day you are able to open the door as long as the Halloween Bag is coloured. Just keep in mind that you have until November 8th to claim your Halloween Bags and receive your NC item prize. After that date, your item prize will automatically go into your Inventory.
What do the different versions of the Halloween Bags represent?
Here is a list of what each different Halloween Bag version represents (this can also be found on the legend at the bottom of the 13 Days of Trick or Treat hub page):
- Dark Grey: You haven't applied a Halloween Bag or the day has passed.
- Coloured but empty: You have applied a Halloween Bag, and you can open it to claim your NC virtual item.
- Coloured but empty with a yellow glow: You have applied a Halloween Bag, and it is the date that matches the number printed on the bag, which means that you can open it to claim your NC virtual item.
- Greyed out and empty: You have applied a Halloween Bag, but the day isn't available yet.
- Coloured and full of candy: You have applied a Halloween Bag and received your NC virtual item!
