Job Description

We are looking for a few game guide writers. Eventually it is our goal to make a guide for all the games out there. Currently we do not have enough staff members to accomplish this goal, so we are looking for new ones. Aside from writing game guides, you would also help out with game related site events such as Daily Dare, Games Master Challenge and New Game Challenge.

We do not have set in stone rules about the frequency at which you should be able to deliver guides. We prefer quality over quantity. As a guideline you could think about completing a guide every 2 months. Of course you can make more if you have time. If you have a period in which you have little time, because of your school or job, we will respect this.

Requirements

The person we are looking for must meet the following qualifications.

  • You must be good at games. Seeing your task would be to write guides, you need to actually know how to play them and score high. Of course you don't have to be good at -every- game, a lot of games would be sufficient.

  • You must have average or expert level with HTML and CSS. Without knowledge of HTML you will not be able to update our pages.

  • You must have a good graphics program and you must know how to use it. Guides are useless without graphics. Not all programs can deliver good quality or have all the options you will need. You need to at least be able to crop, resize, watermark and compress your images. If you don't have such a program, try learning how to work with a free program such as Gimp or Paint.net.

  • You are okay with the fact that your guides will not have any credit directly to you on them. You will however be placed on the About Us page as a game guide writer so you will still get credit due there.

  • You must have good writing skills. When you write something, others must be able to understand what you are saying. SunnyNeo has a lot of younger users, they too must understand your game guides.

  • You accept that when you make something for the site it will then become the site's and if you were to ever leave, the guides you contributed would stay.

  • You plan on doing this job for quite a long time. We are not looking for people who will quit after a month. Please only apply if you're sure you will enjoy this job.

  • You are able / allowed to download and install an FTP Program. We use this program to upload files on the SunnyNeo webserver and edit them as well. Without this program you will not be able to upload your work.

  • You do not work for another Neopets related website.

Preferences

Below you can see a list of our preferences. You do not need to meet these preferences, but it's a big bonus if you do. If you don't meet our preferences you can still apply, after all, they're preferences, not requirements.

  • You are out of highschool, or 15/16 years or older.

  • You have You have Discord (preferred) or Skype.

  • You can animate your graphics. Animated graphics may be able to support the explanation in your guide better than a normal graphic would.

  • You are online at times that Neopets updates the Games Master Challenge and Daily Dare (midnight NST) and New Game Challenge (2-4 PM NST) so that you can update our guide with the newest info and tips. We are looking for more than one game guide writer, so we don't need everyone to be online during these times. If possible we can divide the time-related tasks.

  • You can do NC Mall Challenges related to game site events such as Daily Dare and Games Master Challenge. This is only a preference, if you can't we will be able to find another staffmember who can.

Important!!

Please read the note below. We will not take any applications into consideration without a sample game guide.

Before you decide to apply for the position of Game Guide Writer at SunnyNeo you MUST make a petpage with a sample guide that you have made. You can use a game guide you've previously made, or make one specially for SunnyNeo. We will not be judging your game guide on the layout, we care about the contents, so feel free to use a premade layout.

So what should you put in your sample game guide?
You should try to make your guide ready to be published on SunnyNeo. This means that your guide must be complete. You must describe all the ins and outs about the game. If there is something interesting to know about the game, mention it. Read up on our existing game guides to see how in-depth they are. Also look at the style of writing in SunnyNeo's game guides. Your guide must be similar in style and set-up. Use images to support your guide, that way we can not only judge your writing, but also your skill in making supporting images.

Please work on making a good, solid game guide before applying. Your game guide will put the most weight in your application, so make sure its 100% done when you send in your application form. Don't worry if it takes longer than a day for you to make.

If you get accepted, the work on your game guide will be used as content on SunnyNeo (with possible alterations).

Finally, make sure that your neomail is not on neofriends-only. If we like your work we will contact you for some further details.
