The Second-Hand Shoppe

What Is The Second-Hand Shoppe?
The Neopian Second-Hand Shoppe serves as a thrift store for second-hand wearable items.  The Shoppe functions similar to the Money tree, except that it's solely for Neopoint wearable items.  Since dung changed to a wearable, you will often find dung donations flooding the thrift shoppe. Other common wearables that you should avoid snagging are the Ultra Fashionable Potato Sack, Ghostkerscarf, and the Veiled Autumn Hat. However, every once in awhile a new wearable will come along. If you want to get an item you have to be fast.

Collecting Donations
Sometimes you may want to collect a Neopoint wearable from the Second-Hand Shoppe. Simply visit the shop and refresh by either pressing F5, or clicking on the refresh button on your browser. Once you find something you need, click on the item.

It is important to note: you can collect 10 items per day from all of the donation places, not ten per place. So if you collect 10 items from the Second-Hand Shoppe, you cannot collect from the others that day. The shared claim count places are the Money Tree, Second-Hand Shop, and Rubbish Dump.

Sometimes you will click an item that someone else has already claimed.

Aw, too bad, that fashionable find slipped right through your fingers! Better luck next time.

If you are lucky, you will be fast enough to beat everyone else.

Yay! You got it! Enjoy your new wearable item and visit again some time. Remember, if you're ever cleaning out your Neopet's closet, why not donate an item or two?

If you have a smaller screen and cannot see all the items donated at once, you can use the zoom feature by tapping ctrl and - together to zoom out, making the page content smaller.  This way you will be able to see all the items at once and therefore compete with those who have a larger screen.

Donating Neopoint Wearables
There are two ways to donate Neopoint wearables to the Second-Hand Shoppe. The first way is directly through your inventory which is recommended for smaller amounts of items. Click on the item in your inventory to summon the popup window. From the drop-down menu, select Donate Item. It will ask if you are sure you want to donate this item - if you are sure, click okay.

The second way is through "Quick Stock," which is a better method for any amount of items and makes it much easier to donate in large quantities. On the Quick Stock page, there is a column for "Donate." Click the circle next to the items you wish to donate, making sure that they are in the donate column. Once you are certain the items you wish to donate are checked in the proper donate columm, click submit. The page will warn you that you are about to donate or discard (x) amount of items. If you are sure, click "Okay" and your item will be donated.

Either method of donating items will give a pop-up asking if you are sure.

The page at www.neopets.com says:

Are you sure you want to donate this item?

The page at www.neopets.com says:

Warning! You are about to discard and/or donate 4 items! Are you sure?

Note: if you have disabled Javascript these confirmation popups will not appear. You may accidentally donate/discard the wrong items.

Once you click okay, your donation(s) will show up at the Second-Hand Shoppe for others to claim.

Hey everyone! Thanks so much for the new thrift store. I'm confused on two things, though: 1.) Why are piles of dung allowed in there?!? 2.) How do I donate specifically to the thrift store? Thanks so much for the clarification. Have a great day! ~lisa_lisa00

Piles of dung are now wearable by your Neopet, and the Second-Hand Shoppe is not one to turn down a donated wearable! (We know all of you that enjoy voting for Neopets for the Customisation Spotlight are just lovin' it, too.)

If you're kind enough to want to donate clothing and other wearable items to fellow Neopians, just donate the wearables as you would any other. We've set up a series of tubes that automatically reroute any donated wearable items to the Second Hand Shoppe instead of the Money Tree.

*Ahem* As I accept this wearable option,
I'd like to thank everyone who helped me get here:
Mom, Dad, my manager, that nice Gelert farmer,
my publicist, PR manager, *sniff* Skippy, Mr. Bobleskins,
and everyone else who ever encouraged me
to be more than an item so useless that even the
Money Tree wouldn't take me! Thank you everyone,
thank you! *happy tears*

Famous Donors
Sometimes donations come in from characters in the Neopian universe.

I was browsing in the Second Hand Shoppe and happened to see a Fire Background. Upon looking at the name of the donor I saw that it said "Princess Amira." Is she a charitable Aisha, or were my eyes deceiving me? ~cherry85

Nope! Some of the most charitable donors to the Second Hand Shoppe are Neopian characters themselves.

I'm just *that* nice.

I was searching through the Second Hand Shoppe, and I've been seeing items like woolen caps and other usually expensive wearable items, and it said that they've been donated by people like Prince Jazan! When I try to get one of them, it says it "slipped through my fingers." I'm just wondering, is this another one of TNT's famous jokes like the Scamanders, or can you actually get one? (PS: How do they slip through my fingers? Are they snakes? o_O) ~newneo7172

Haha, no. It really is someone getting to it before you. It seems like some Neopian characters are just happy to help get wearable items into the hands of those who appreciate free clothing. Also "slipped through your fingers" is just a nice way of saying someone ripped it out of your hands as you both frantically tried to grab the item at the same time. Mentally picturing Neopian shops and the like during restocks makes us giggle.

"The shopkeeper has accepted... PWND!"
"ARGH! I mishaggled!"
"Walked in late!"
"Stupid lag!"
