Masks of Dread

On October 25, 2011, a new Masks of Dread activity was released as part of the Haunted Faire area of the Haunted Woods.

Hosted by a Cybunny named Saskia, this quest activity involves having your pet test out a mask and visit different Neopian locations. Select a mask from the choices in the center of the page, and your active pet will wear the mask. Then visit the locations described in the clue. When you've completed the quest, return to Saskia and collect your prizes. You will be able to keep the mask you chose.

Note: The masks are wearable by Baby pets, Mutants and Maraquans as well. Only unconverted pets cannot wear them. If you have an unconverted pet as your active, switch it with another pet before starting the quest.



There is also a Neocash activity related to the Masks of Dread activity. Purchase the ticket and activate it before doing your quest, and you can get a bonus NC item.

Once you have chosen a mask, your active pet will wear the mask on your quest and get the quest clue.

FAQ

Who is Saskia and what does she want?
Saskia is a mysterious wanderer who has come to the Haunted Faire with a cart full of masks. While there are many theories about how she makes her masks, she is here to have brave Neopians test her masks so that she can build the ultimate mask for Halloween.

When will the 1st quest be available?
Neopians will be able to choose a mask and go on a quest starting on October 25th. As more quests become available, you'll have the option to choose a mask more than once. Doing so will keep you from collecting all of the masks, however.

How long do I have to complete each quest?
You have until midnight on November 1st to complete the quests. For the first quest, which is being released on the 25th of October, we are giving you a day and a half to complete it and still qualify of the day and date bonus prize.

Do you have to finish the quest on the day it is given?
You don't have to finish your quests on the days when they are given, but there may be a special reward for those that do. *wink*

Do I have to complete the quests in order?
No, you don't have to take on (or complete) the quests in order.

Are there prizes for completing the quests?
Yes. You'll receive prizes for completing each quest and a bonus prize if you finish each quest on the day it was released.

Can I be on multiple quests at a time?
You can only do one quest at a time.

Can I do a quest multiple times?
No, you can only do each quest a single time.

What happens if I can't complete a quest?
You have to complete a quest in order to take on another one. If you get stuck, you might want to ask your friends or family members for help.

Do I have to wear the mask the entire time I'm looking for the Neopian Saskia has sent me to?
Yes. Any time you are looking for the Neopians that Saskia wants you to find, your Active Neopet must be wearing the mask she gave you.

What should I do if my Neopet can't wear a mask?
In order to participate, you will need to select an Active Neopet that is capable of being equipped with a wearable.

I placed a mask on my Neopet, but I changed my mind and don't want to wear that mask on the quest. Can I change the mask?
Once you've chosen a mask for a quest, you cannot change it for another mask. At that point, you will have to complete that quest with that mask and wait until the next quest is available to select a different mask.

Does it matter which mask I choose?
No. The Neopians you encounter will react a bit differently depending on which mask you choose, however.

What is the difference between a green check mark and a yellow check mark on the quest icons of the Masks of Dread page?
A green check mark indicates that you've completed that quest. A yellow check mark signifies that you've completed the quest on the day it was released.

What is the NC quest pack?
Available from the NC Mall, the NC quest pack grants you additional prizes during your participation in Saskia's Masks of Dread quests.
