Games Master Challenge

What is the Games Master Challenge?
Every year in November a Blumaroo named Aristotle A. Avinroo (better known as Aaa) gives out game challenges to Neopians. The first time he has done so was in November 2006. On this page you can see all challenges, prizes and qualifying games. You will also see some tips on how to play the challenges and beat them. Click here to go to Games Master Challenge.

If you want to practice, SunnyNeo's Games Room lists all GMC and Daily Dare scores from previous years. This will give you an idea of which score you'll need to get to beat AAA.

November 27th - Day 7
Game Challenge
Finger Splints Not Include

Send a score in 50 different qualifying games.

8-Bit Pizza
Game Challenge
Berried Alive

Reach a score of 1,500 or greater playing Berry Bash.

Tips for Berry Bash:
  • Serve less happy customers first. The moment you move a customer to seating, take their order, having them wait for you to clean mess their counter resets.
  • Only have two berries can grow at the same time, so take two orders at a time.
  • Since berries take a second or two to grow, clean up messes or seat people. While you wait for the berries.
  • Keep constantly moving - no down time keeps the game going
  • Play on low quality if the game is lagging and the customers build up to fast.

Thistleberry Pingrenade
Timed Challenge
Abracadabra!

Send a minimum score of 30,000 or higher in Spellseeker.

Tips for Spellseeker:
  • When using numbers, you must form chains that increase or decrease by the amount listed above the board. You start with 1, so a sample chain could be 3-2-1-2-1-2-3-2-3.
  • When using letters, you must spell words.
  • When using symbols, you form chains by clicking on adjacent tiles that have matching symbols.
  • It's easiest to play in numbers mode.
  • When you see any golden tiles, try to incorporate them into long chains. The longer the chain, the better your score. The gold tiles act as a bonus. Also try to include slime tiles in the chains, otherwise they will slowly work their way to the bottom.
  • Don't allow the slime tiles to reach the bottom. If that happens the game is over.
  • If there are too many slime tiles in later rounds, there is a vial next to the wizard. It will fill up with gold. Click this vial - only when it is full- and all the slime tiles will be removed from the screen. The vial refills itself everytime gold tiles are used up in chains. If the vial is full from one round, it will carry over into the next round, so there's no need to worry about it having to refill again.
  • At level 1, make a chain of 2700 points at first. This this is the highest score you can get without finishing the level. When the tiles refill with a gold tile, try to make a chain as long as possible with it. If there's no gold tile, restart and try again. In this way, you'll be able to get a lot of points during the first level. If there's more then one gold tile, try to connect those for even more points.
  • At the start of each level press shuffle a few times until one or more gold tiles appear. Don't worry about the slimey times and try to include them and the gold tiles in your chain.

Timed Challenge
Not On My Watch!

Send a minimum score of 170 or higher playing MAGAX: Destroyer II.

Tips for Magax Destroyer II:
  • The game code xagam restores your health to full. One user per game.
  • The vampire Cybunnies take several shots, so you'll probably have to shoot them a couple times, turn around and fly away, then turn back around and shoot again.
  • The skulls give extra health, so pick them up if you need to.
  • If you get hit by Hubrid Nox's fireball, you won't be able to shoot for a while, so turn around and fly in the other direction until the effect wears off.

Mutant Brain Slushie
Game Challenge
A Mind-Body Workout

Reach a score of 260 or greater playing Kou-Jong and a score of 700 or better playing Top Chop.

Tips for Kou-Jong:
  • Finishing the level fast will give you bonus points.
  • If you don't have any more matching tiles, you can click reset without loosing earlier scores
  • When clearing the tiles, try to clear the top tiles and those around the edges first. In this way, more other tiles will become free or available.
  • The game will tell you when click and there are no more possible moves. If you can't find any and the game hasn't stopped yet, you can use the hint option twice to preview a move. Only use this when you really need it!
  • Trying to remember how all the different tiles look will help you spotting the tiles you need more easily.

Tips for Top Chop:
  • Hit the space bar in order to make the moving black line stop in the green area, preferably directly in the middle over the white line. If you stop it directly over the white line, you'll get bonus points. If you stop it directly over the white line a few times in a row, you'll get a power up.
  • In the first three levels, the black line will move progressively faster with each level. If you seem to be too slow for the faster levels, hit the space bar a little before you think you have to.
  • In the next four levels, the black line will move erratically, speeding up and then slowing down, and sometimes stopping completely. Try to wait until the line is moving slower before you try to hit it. Just be careful not to wait too long- there is a time limit.
  • During the rest of the levels, the green area and the black line both move. If you want to try to beat the levels, it's best to try to stop the line when both it and the green area are near the top or the bottom of the meter.
  • Sometimes a Moffit will jump across your board. You can't hit your board during this time. However, you won't be penalised in any way if you attempt to hit the board while the Moffit is jumping across it, so you really don't have to bother worrying about this.
  • If you're lucky enough to get a power up, save it for the tougher levels; you can choose when to use it by clicking on it.

Qualifying Games from the Haunted Woods:.

Game Challenge
Home Run!

Reach a score of 300 or greater playing Kass Basher.

Tips for Kass Basher:
  • The highest wind speed is 9. If you wait for the wind speed to be 9, you can hit the Kass further.
  • Try to hit the Kass when it's near the top of the bat.
  • Hold down the left mouse button or the spacebar as the Kass is rising, then release it when the Kass starts falling.
  • Click the mouse button or spacebar each time the Kass hits the ground to make it bounce and go further.

Water Turtum
Game Challenge
Three of a Kind

Reach a score of 270 or greater playing Faerie Bubbles.

Tips for Faerie Bubbles:
  • Check out our Faerie Bubbles Game Guide!
  • The game code bubbles turns every bubble into the same colour. One use per game.
  • The game code faerieland gives you a rainbow bubble. One use per game.
  • The game code stardust you a nova bubble. One use per game.
  • The game code slumberberry resets rows to the top of the screen. One use per game.
  • Restart until you get mostly fire or water bubbles.
  • Make fire and water combo's (made out of 4 bubbles or more) where possible. Try avoiding any air, earth or dark combo's.
  • Try avoiding any air, earth or dark combo's.
  • If you are needing a really high score, you can use the code bubbles on level 8. If you use the faerieland code to get a matching bubble right after, it will give you 250 bonus points at once (if you get Fire, Water, Light or Air bubbles) and clear a difficult level for you. This works especially if you've got a bad combo of bubbles here (many Air, Green or Dark).

Faerie Spinacles
November 25th - Day 5
Game Challenge
A Pinch of Dung

Send a minimum score of 150 or higher playing Sophie's Stew.

Tips for Sophie's Stew:
  • Type hungrymeowclops for an extra life. One use per game.
  • Type the game code in pieces, first type hungry, then the next time you have time type meow, and then finally type clops. This will allow you to get an extra life without losing one.
  • Bounce the items off of the right side of your wand in order to make them go towards the right and into the cauldron.
  • You can use either the mouse or the arrow keys to move the wand. Using the mouse is much easier.
  • If you move the wand to the right as you bounce the items off of it, it will make the item go farther, allowing you to get them into the cauldron faster.
  • If you drop an item, you lose a life. However, if you drop an item right above the Meowclops, the Meowclops will eat it and you will not lose a life.
  • A Droolik will fly overhead and drop powerups from the top of the screen. Grab the green powerup for an extra life. Grab the blue one to increase the size of your wand. Avoid the red powerup, as it decreases your wand size.
  • If an item bounces off of the side of the cauldron, sit by the cauldron and let the item bounce back off of the right side of your wand. This should cause it to go into the cauldron.
  • As the game goes on, Sophie will throw the items more quickly, and you may have to juggle several items at once. Different items are worth different amounts of points, so if you have multiple items in the air and have to choose one to drop, drop the one with the lower point value. The point values are as follows:
    • Grape Gummy Rat: 5
    • Pile Of Dung: 5
    • Glaring Eye Wrap: 6
    • Brain Ice Cream: 6
    • Spooky Doughnut: 6
    • Twirly Fruit: 7
    • Octornapie Tentacle: 7
    • Red Scorchiopepper: 8
    • Hot Worm Hot Dog: 8
    • Tongue Wrap: 8
    • Spoc Spoc Grub: 9
    • WooWoo Grub: 10
    • Blue Fish Pop: 10
    • Mau Codestone: 12

It's That-a-way!

Reach a score of 2,200 or greater playing Eye of the Storm.

Seafarer Mug
Game Challenge
Quit Playing With Your Food!

Reach a score of 30 or greater playing Snowbeast Snackrifice.

Tips for Snowbeast Snackrifice:
  • Make sure to charge up your shot before hitting the petpets, or they won't go far.
  • If you charge your power fully, then hit a petpet into the cave, a light will light up. Get three lights, and for a short time you go into a mode where you can hit many petpets into the cave easily, as you no longer have to charge your shot during this time.

Florgbeast Plushie
November 24th - Day 4
Timed Challenge
Geronimo!

Post a score of 20,000 or more playing Ugga Drop.

Tips for Ugga Drop:
  • Read SunnyNeo's Ugga Drop game guide.
  • Try not to drop before the "Go!" message, you will lose points. Press spacebar as early as you can after the countdown.
  • Make sure none of your enemies bump into you, this will slow you down. Instead of letting them bump into you, bump into them.
  • Try and collect as many tokens as you can for the upgrades.
  • If you land in the mud, you are out for that round and lose a life. Land on the platform instead.
  • You can usually open your parachute once your character reaches the lowest ledge (with the rope ladder).
  • There are 20 rounds to this game, you get 2,000 points each time you come in first, 1,000 points for second. Max score for the game is 40,000 points.

Gingerbread Mountain
Game Challenge
Coming Through!

Send a minimum score of 1,900 or higher playing Crisis Courier.

Tips for Crisis Courier:
  • The game code kingaltador gives you one extra life. One use per game. Type the code at the very start of the game, before any enemies come up.
  • Remember to click on your left mouse button to switch between the fire and snow Yooyu. The fire Yooyu kills the red enemies and is able to collect the red money bags, and the snow Yooyu kills the blue enemies and is able to collect the blue money bags.
  • The key to this game is memorising the levels. Play several times until you remember what's coming up, so you'll be prepared to switch to the correct colour or to collect the money bags.
  • The winged fruit will turn you into a faerie Yooyu, which causes each money bag you collect to be worth more points, and also allows you to collect both red and blue money bags. However, you can't kill any enemies while in faerie form. If you've got a lot of enemies but few to no money bags coming up, collecting the winged fruit would be a bad idea (this is one instance where memorising the levels comes in, so that you know when to collect it and when not to.)
  • The red fig will turn you into a mutant Yooyu, allowing you to kill enemies of either colour. You can collect the regular yellow money bags while in mutant form, but the red and blue money bags will kill you.
  • Most of the times when a fruit appears, it appears a a strategic point where you can use them, like a line of red and blue enemies going with the fig and a collection of money bags going with the winged fruit. However, avoid collecting the winged fruit almost at the end of the second level, almost before you bump into into the first winged enemies. This time, collecting the fruit will probably make you lose a life instead of helping you.
  • Be careful- practically everything in this game kills you. Touching any walls or structures kills you (except the big post at the end of each level, which you can pass through.) Touching the enemies kills you if you're not in the proper form. Touching red or blue money bags kills you if you're not in the proper form. Touching any enemies kills you if you're in faerie form.
  • Don't take any risks and do not to try collect everything. Don't go for the money bags or enemies when they are placed between two walls, and don't go for a row of red and blue enemies unless you're in the mutant Yooyu form. The few points you'll gain from this are not worth losing a life over.
  • If your computer is lagging a lot, try playing on a smaller size and lower quality. Also, this game is a pain for touch-pad users; if you happen to have a normal mouse lying around somewhere, make use of it.

Inflatable Yooyu
Game Challenge
Take That, Sloth!

Send a minimum score of 300 or higher playing Korbat's Lab.

Tips for Korbats Lab:
  • The game code spiderbite gives you an extra life. One use per game.
  • The game code skip allows to you skip level. No points will be rewarded for the level but at least you can move on if its a hard level. Multiple use per game.
  • The game code destroy gives you many multi-balls. One use per game.

Getting Your Potions Right
November 23rd - Day 3
Game Challenge
Beware the Blasts

Reach a score of 310 or greater playing Magma Blaster and a score of 11,000 or better playing Snot Splatter.

Tips for Magma Blaster:
  • Hitting the magma blocks in full target will give you 4 points instead of 2.
  • In order to get to the bonus level you must hit all magma blocks for 4 points.
  • If you want to get a high enough score you will need to get at least 3 bonus rounds.
  • If you hit a magma block for 2 points rather than 4 points, you might still be able to get the bonus level by hitting extra blocks. The only way to get extra blocks is to wait with shooting the last block until the volcano spits out one or more extra blocks. In order to know when that is, count the blocks you've already shot. First level you need 10, then 15 and so on.
  • You have to use the number keys above the letters on your keyboard. The ones at the numpad won't work.

Tips for Snot Splatter:
  • Click on a full bubble that is next to other full bubbles to start a chain reaction.
  • You can also start a chain reaction by using the 2x powerup on an almost-full bubble that is next to full bubbles.
  • Your splatters will stop if they run into flat walls, but they'll bounce off and keep going when they run into diagonal walls.
  • If you clear between 20-29 snot blobs at the same time, you get an x2 power up. On level one, clear between 20-29 blobs in your first shot, and then do the same in your second shot, so that you've got two x2 power ups by the end of level 1. If you don't accomplish this, start over.
  • On levels 2 and 3, build up an area of snot blobs that are totally full. Then go around building up snot blobs that are small, and putting extra snot blobs in empty spaces. When you've only got one drop of snot left, choose the x2 powerup, and use it in the middle of several full blobs. Repeat this process for level 3.
  • From level 4 onwards, use your snot drops to pump up the small blobs until you've got one snot left, and then choose the double blob power up and start a chain reaction in the middle of several large blobs of snot. The double blob is earned by clearing 40 or more snot blobs at the same time, so you should have two of them by level 4.
  • Don't bother wasting a double blob power up on level 6, because it's very small and split into two parts. Just try to clear the level. After level 6, go back to the strategy of building up the smaller blobs on the board into bigger blobs and then using the double blob power up when you start your chain reaction.

Snot Volcano
Game Challenge
It's a Shooting Star!

Reach a score of 9,100 or greater playing Nova Defender.

Tips for Nova Defender:
  • Many people have issues playing the game in the small embedded window. In order to get the game in its own window, use this link.
  • Play on hard mode; you'll never get enough points on the easier modes.
  • Double-click the left mouse button to use your shield when your green status bar is full.
  • Use the arrow keys or the WASD keys to shoot. You can just hold them down; you don't have to tap repeatedly. To shoot diagonally, hold down two directions at once.
  • Collecting several gems in quick succession makes a chain, which is worth extra points. If there's too much time between collecting one gem and the next, the chain will be broken.
  • You cannot make chains while using the shield, so avoid using the shield if you can.
  • For your powerups, choose the 3-way shot first, then the 2-way wide shot and then the cannon shot.
  • You have 3 lives. Near the end of level 3, die on purpose, play the level over again, die on purpose near the end again, then play the level a third time and pass it. This will rack up a lot of points. It will also allow you to go into level 4 with the cannon shot, which you really need for that level.

Crayon Novas
Game Challenge
Boing!

Reach a score of 300 or greater playing Super Hasee Bounce.

Tips for Super Hasee Bounce:
  • Instead of trying to aim, focus on where your Hasee is landing, so as not to lose any lives.
  • Collect any bonus point items (doughnutfruits) before you collect all the letters, as this finishes the level.
  • The closer to the edge of the seesaw, the higher the Hasee will bounce. This can be helpful when aiming for specific balloons.
  • Watch out for the wind on the later levels, this could blow the Hasee's off track easily and make it harder for you to control them.
  • You need to make use of the 2x, 3x and 5x powerup bubbles. If your Hasee gets one of them you have a few seconds to also get letters and doughnut fruits which will then double in points (or more depending on the powerup). If you do not make use of these, you will not be able to get 1000 points when you finish level 15.
  • Restart the game until your level 1 starts with at least one or two multiplier powerups.
  • Playing on normal mode is fine, you don't need to play on hard mode.

Hasee Shaped Balloons
November 22th - Day 2
Game Challenge
Too Scared to Fall Asleep

Reach a score of 270 or greater playing Maths Nightmare.

Tips for Maths Nightmare:
  • Play the game on devision and potato counter. Many times, the answer here will be '2', so you might find it usefull having one finger on the '2' key most of the time, so you can type that quickly and save time.
  • The game code letimiyasleep gives you extra time. One use per game.

Babaa Night Lamp
Game Challenge
Look Out!

Reach a score of 300 or greater playing Snowball Fight.

Tips for Snowball Fight:
  • The game code snowghettiandmeatball gives you 10 extra snowballs. One use per game.
  • There is no time limit to this game, so relax! Try to never get under 3 big snowballs. If you're running out, aim only for Dieter the Polarchuck until you're packed with snowballs again.
  • Only aim for Dieter if there isn't a faerie close by. Be careful, or you might end up losing snowballs rather than gaining them!
  • Track the wind direction by watching how the snowflakes fall. If the wind is blowing to the left, you're going to want to aim more to the right for a straight shot.
  • Try to hit the neopets in the middle of their face. This will give you 10 points instead of 5.
  • Go for the Meepit whenever it appears, it gives you 10 points for hitting it, or 20 points if you can get it right in the face.
  • Don't use the game code unless you're at a stage where you have to or you will die. Aiming for Dieter is better, the game code should function as your backup option

  • The required items and other spooky foods get you 10 points each.
  • Powerups are Pink Spooky Popcorn (increases speed) and Pink Apple Lantern (increases light).
  • Powerdowns are Almost Gummy Rat (Strawberry) (decreases speed) and Mummified Negg (decreases light).
  • To defeat your enemies, you can hit them with a gravestone, only the plain ones can be pushed (use spacebar).
  • Take your time, you get more points for killing the enemies than for collecting the items, so try to get all of them before you move on to the next level.

You Spin Me Round

Reach a score of 1,300 or greater playing Spinacles.

Tips for Spinacles:
  • Stay on the lower levels as long as possible to rack up points. The level will end if you clear all the spheres, so avoid doing this. Just keep building up spheres and making more points instead of beating the level.
  • The bomb and the item that looks like a dreamcatcher may end your level too quickly. To avoid this, shoot them horizontally; this will cause them to bounce back and forth for a while until they disappear.
  • If you make several matches in a row, the score you get for each cleared sphere will multiply. For your first match, all cleared spheres are worth one point each; for your second match in a row, each sphere is worth two points; for your third in a row, each sphere gives you three points; and so on. So try to make several matches in a row to gain points more quickly.
  • On the top of the screen, towards the right, there's a meter showing several grayed-out balls. Every time you shoot a sphere without making a match, one of the balls is taken away. When you reach zero balls, more spheres will fly in from the sides of the screen. If your spheres build up so much that they reach the edge of the screen, your game will be over, so be aware of this and make sure not to lose.
  • If your spheres are getting dangerously close to the edge, you can use the bomb or the dreamcatcher-like item to clear several spheres at a time. The bomb clears less spheres than the dreamcatcher. Make sure to shoot the bomb towards the area where the spheres are getting close to the edge.
  • The rainbow sphere will change to the same color as whatever sphere it touches.
  • Your shooter shows the next two spheres that are coming up. Hit the space bar to switch the spheres if the second sphere is better for your purposes than the first one.

    • Ghost Marshmallow: 15

Game Challenge
It's That-a-way!

Reach a score of 2,200 or greater playing Eye of the Storm.

Tips for Eye of the Storm:
  • By clicking the tiles, you will find clues that the crew members are giving you. The crew members will be pointing the way. You must use their clues to find the ship.

Seafarer Mug
Game Challenge
I'll Have Seconds Please

Reach a score of 150 or greater playing Feed Florg.

Tips for Feed Florg:
  • If this game lags, it will automatically end. Try closing all other windows and stopping unnecessary processes on your computer to attempt to get a lag-free game.

Where's My Shadow?

Send a minimum score of 250 or higher playing Edna's Shadow.

Tips for Edna's Shadow:
  • The game code edmoretime gives you 25 seconds extra time. One use per game.
  • Kill all the baddies in each level. They are worth more points individually then the items.
  • When the rocks with glowing cracks on them begin to appear simply zap them, and there might be a 5 point apple core underneath.

November 22nd - Day 2
Game Challenge
Whack!

Clowning Around

It's a Bird.. It's a Plane.. What Is It?!

Send a minimum score of 1300 or higher playing Shenkuu Tangram.

Tips for Shenkuu Tangram:
  • Press the left and right arrow keys or the space bar to rotate the shapes. Press the up arrow key to flip the shapes. You'll often have to press the up arrow key to flip the light blue shape in order to make it fit.
  • Play on normal mode. You actually get more points on normal mode than on hard mode, because you get a time bonus on normal mode. Basically, hard mode is a lot harder and gives less points.
  • Play on Low quality, it will show you where some of the pieces need to be placed, which makes it much easier for you.
  • If you like, you can click quickly on each piece as soon as it appears, so that you'll have all the pieces in reserve, and can then start with whichever one of the pieces you want.
  • Just play the levels several times until you memorise where each piece goes in each puzzle. Then you'll be able to finish puzzles quickly and get a larger time bonus.
  • Remember, there's a time limit, so if you're having trouble placing one piece, just move on to the next one.
  • Memorise the figures and how to put the pieces of the puzzle. In order to get a high score you need to put them away instantly, you don't have time to think.
  • When the level starts, immediately click on the piece of the puzzle that falls down. Click quickly after each other so that all the pieces are put into the box at the bottom left site. You should have all the pieces there at the start of the level.
  • Put the big pieces in the puzzle before you put the small pieces.
  • Don't use firefox, use Opera instead, firefox will make the time counter go much faster than it should be going, you don't want that.

Additional Challenge Help

For each challenge there are certain requirements that you must meet to beat the challenge, as you can see in the table further up the page. Although challenges are given out daily, you may complete them at any time before the challenge's deadline, which this year is November 30th. For each challenge you complete you are eligible to receive a prize. Once you complete a challenge the little gray gift box will turn into a red or blue gift box, depending on your team. Then you must click on it, a pop up will open and tell you the prize you have been awarded.

The challenges revolve around a group of selected qualifying games. Each year the list of games changes and is expanded. The odd number of games is due to the addition of several sponsor games. For some challenges, people from the USA will play a sponsor game whereas non-USA people will have a different, non-sponsor game.

This year there are 5 types of challenges.

Help Questions and Answers

TNT has decided to make Games Master Challenge a little different this year. Below you can read the updated help questions and answers:

1. When does the Games Master Challenge start and end?
The Games Master Challenge will begin on the afternoon (NST) of November 20th. Day 1 will end at 11:59:59 pm NST on November 21st. Each day after that will be a typical 24 hour day from midnight to 11:59:59 pm. The Games Master Challenge will end at 11:59:59 pm on November 27th.

2. What is the difference between the Living and the Dead?
While there is some overlap in the challenges that the teams will receive, generally speaking, a lot of the games will be based specifically on the challengers.

3. Is AAA involved in this year's GMC?
AAA is back and ready to watch two well-known Neopians duke it out again this year. AAA has recruited the help of Hubrid Nox and MAGAX to serve as the team captains in this years Games Master Challenge and settle once for all which is better, the living, or the dead. Both are prepared to lead their respective teams in a week-long competition and see whose squad has the better gamers.

4. How do I help my team?
You can earn points for your team by participating in the challenges.

5. What is the meter?
The meter keeps track of which team is winning. At the end of the event, participants on the winning team will receive a prize.

6. What do the check marks mean on the Progress page?
When you complete a challenge on the day it is released, a gold checkmark will appear over the challenge icon. If you complete a challenge on a day other than the day it was released, then the checkmark will be green.

7. Are there different lists of qualifying games for each team?
No, the list of qualifying games is the same for both teams. This is a complete list that includes all of the qualifying games for both teams.

8. How do timed challenges work?
There are a few challenges during the GMC that will be timed. Once a challenges timer has been activated, you will have 12 hours to complete that challenge. If you do not complete the challenge in the time given, you will not receive credit or a prize for that challenge.

9. Does each team have the same number of challenges?
Yes. No matter which team you select, the level of participation required is exactly the same.

10. Once I have selected my team, can I change it later?
No. Once you have selected your team, you are locked in for the duration of the event.
