Why this page?
Every year on April 1st The Neopets Team tries to pull everyone's leg by changing something to the site that is rather radical. For example in 2006 they told everyone they would have to start paying taxes for every page load. We decided to start making a log of TNT's April fools jokes, starting April 1st, 2007. From the years before 2007 we've tried to gather some information to give you insights in the older jokes.

Shop Wizard
The Shop Wizard seems to be feeling ill today.

Note: The Premium Super Shop Wizard appears to be working fine without any problems.

Urgggh, my head is spinning. Note to self: Skip the Swill Pudding at the next luncheon. I can still work.

When you search for something using the Shop Wizard, it will come up with random items or prices. However, if you click on one of the usernames, you will be taken to a shop, and the item you searched for will actually be in it. So basically the Shop Wizard is just giving you random item names as a result.





When you search for an unbuyable item or any other phrase that cannot be found, the following will come up:



In the spirit of todays April Fools joke, the Daily Puzzle gives out a Neggitus Injection as a prize.

Three Neopets only
During April 1st, the Neopets News got updated with the following message:

NOTICE - Due to increasing numbers of Neopets causing core dumps on our database servers, we had to make some changes to how the site performs. Unfortunately, this means we will have to purge some Neopets from the system. Starting on Monday, each account will only be allowed three Neopets rather than four. In the next few hours, we will be sending Neopets into the Pound and purging the Pound itself by the end of today (Sunday). If you would like to help us out, please visit the Pound and send a Neopet of your choice to it! If one is not chosen by the time we start running the Automated Pound Transfer script, a random Neopet will be chosen for you and taken to the Pound to be purged. Please stay tuned for further updates! We apologize for the inconvenience.

Visiting the pound, would show the following:



Basically, TNT wants you to choose one of your pets to abandon because of so called server issues. You have about 12 hours to choose which pet. However, the Pound stopped working because many people were supposingly doing this, and they plan to fix it within 19,5 hours. So that means you wouldn't be able to choose which pet to abandon, and the automatic script would pick one for you.

The autoselected Neopets will always be your active Pet. Chancing your active will change the autoselected Neopet as well. Even when you have less than 4 Neopets, you'll still be told you'll have to abandon one of them.

During this joke, pet adoption, pet abandoning and pet transferring are not working. abandon one of them.


The Trading Post
The Trading Post was involved in an joke as well. It seems the Trading post is currently being run by Hoka, a Tyrannian Kacheek.

It appears that a helpful Tyrannian named Hoka oversees the Trading Post now. What luck! You can brush up on your Tyrannian.

Hoka may be very helpful, but his not the brightest Neopian arround. Anything else but offering Dung and less than 1,000NP will confuse him.

Offering a Pile of Dung and 1,000 NPs on an item will put all your Neopets, your Neopoints on hand and all the items in your Safety Deposit Box up for trade! Note, you will not actually bid on a lot.

Hoka will then ask you if you want to go on with the trade. At least, it looks like that's what he's asking, seeing how he only knows Tyrannian!



Whatever action you choose, Hoka will accept your offer and take all your neopoints, Neopets and items from you! Going back to another page will make them all show up again, however.


Auctions
Dung seemed to be spreading, because it did also effect the Auctions. On the auctions, all auctions have been changed into gung items. (This included items which had the word 'dung' in them, like dungeon)



Dung seems suddenly to have become quite popular in Neopia, because when you try to bid on it, Nigel the Stockbroker, who normally runs the stock market, will outbid you on these items!. This means you are unable to bid on most items that are currently in the auctions.



Also, the Auction Genie is currently only searching for dung, no matter what other kind of things you are trying to search for.


Lab Ray
The Lab Ray was involved in this years prank as well. When zapping your Neopet, you would get the message you'd would have gotten a great colourchanging zap, like Maraquan or Faerie. This could apply to the pet you zapped, or to one of your other pets you didn't zap.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on whether you wanted the zap or not, this wasn't a real zap. The pet you zapped would show up in the colour and species it was zapped by you, but others would still see it's original colour. Like how your Pirate Draik would show up as a Maraquan Poogle to you, but to other people it would still be a Pirate Draik.


NC Mall
Like the previous years, the NC Mall has it's own prank mystery capsule. This year, it was the Tough Guy Mystery Capsule



The lack of clothes for male Neopets selling in the NC Mall has been an issue on the NC boards for a longer time. This is why a Mystery Capsule that would only give out male clothing was now selling in the NC Mall.


Facebook
More guys showed up on Neopets Facebook page, where concept art was shown for male Faeries.




You could vote which one of these guys would become the first male Faerie. Apparently, male Faerie number 5 was quite popular.
